So happy to have finally passed the Capitol Hill knight in person. There used to be one around 14th and Taylor St, NW but sadly it’s no longer around. This one’ll be pretty tough to beat:

I think it might be time for a new design competition… From New York Ave and North Capitol St, NW.

Shaw’s Venus de Milo looking good:

My second favorite sculpture in the city. From Capitol Hill.

Dear PoPville,
Today, I noticed the creatures adorning the top of the Twins Jazz building for the first time. It appears they have been there for ages, but the tree hides them pretty well so I have passed by for years without seeing them. I couldn’t tell if these are dogs, tigers or what. (The paint is significantly chipped off.) I assume they were part of the building for years and perhaps had significance for a previous business in that location?
Anyone know the history behind these?

Simply awesome.

On one of the warmest days of the year… Thanks to a reader for sending the heads up. The Jeanne d’Arc sculpture was restored back in Dec. 2011 in Meridian Hill Park.
If this is ‘knit graffiti’, this is one of the greatest examples of all time. Though it looks like a store bought sweater:
