When I first saw the above sign at the gas station at 15th and U Streets, NW in August, ’07 I wrote that God Does Exist. Now the New York Times writes:

In a new study, he reports that young male recreational athletes who drank a syrup-flavored ice slurry just before running on a treadmill in hot room could keep going for an average of 50 minutes before they had to stop. When they drank only syrup-flavored cold water, they could run for an average of 40 minutes.”

And I just thought they tasted good.

I’m all for “$22 million in delegate spending” but what exactly are fancy foods? I guess if I have to ask…

From a press release:

DC Secures 2012 Fancy Foods Show
National Association for the Specialty Food Trade Books Back-to-Back Meetings in DC

(Washington, DC)…Organizers of one of the specialty food industry’s most important annual meetings have signed on for a second consecutive year in Washington, DC. In a significant win for the DC hospitality industry, the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade announced that it will stage its 2012 Summer Fancy Foods Show at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The 2011 Summer Fancy Foods Show will also take place in DC, as announced in 2008, leaving New York City for the first time since 1992 for its back-to-back events in DC. Each show is expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees, generating more than $22 million in delegate spending.

As someone who has dealt with some painful water issues in my basement please learn from my mistakes and check your gutters. It will save you much money and misery in the future. And as far as this building in Shaw is concerned – it’s not good enough to just have a gutter, it has to actually be connected to something sweet gutter:
