The Walkway website says:
“We are collecting information regarding words, phrases and gestures that are used in public spaces to address others. This is a study to explore what people consider to be respectful, friendly, non-friendly or threatening interactions. Data collected will be used as part of an interactive exhibit.
Responses will be kept anonymous.”
“The construction on Columbia Road in Adams Morgan has been starting at about 6:30am each morning–jack hammering, bulldozering, etc. Adams Morgan clearly has strict noise regulations since the new hotel will not be allowed to have a public rooftop, but what are the effects of the regulations on early morning construction noise? Are there DC regulations about what time noisy construction can begin?”

Say what you will about the posh shopping – they are just killing it on the decorations. From a press release:

Last week I mentioned that the Ice Rinks in Canal Park and Silver Spring had opened (I’m also trying to post this photo as often as humanly possibly) and that the Sculpture Garden Rink would be opening in “mid-November”. Well we’ve hit mid-November – it opens Friday! And the National Harbour rink has also opened in Georgetown. So no matter where you live – Lace Up!!

This is old and isn’t super neighborhood specific but it just came across my facebook feed today and it feels right to remember our love for the District too. The author Puponic writes:

Their Columbia Heights/Mount Pleasant Main Street will join eleven other DC Main Streets programs that have been accredited through DC Main Streets and the National Main Street Center, Inc. As a DC Main Street designee, Columbia Heights Initiative will implement programs and services to support the growth and development of neighborhood businesses and the revitalization of the commercial corridors of Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant.
