President Lincoln’s Cottage opened Seat of War: A Panoramic View of Civil War Washington Through Historic Prints early this month in the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center. This exhibit illuminates President Lincoln’s Civil War Washington through historic prints from our collection. It will run through the new year and close on January 15, 2012.

Golden Heart Yoga DC is opening a new yoga studio in Petworth. Located on Georgia Avenue [4804 Georgia Ave NW] across the street from several popular neighborhood restaurants [Fusion, Moroni and Bros. Pizza, Ras], Golden Heart Yoga DC will offer yoga classes for all levels, as well as teacher trainings, workshops, and other special events.

Golden Heart Yoga DC is owned and operated by two experienced Washington, DC yoga instructors, Elizabeth Lloyd and Julie Eisenberg. Elizabeth and Julie are Petworth neighbors and are committed to creating a warm and welcoming space that meets the needs of the diverse community in and around Petworth.

It’s quite common to see the name of prolific late 19th/early 20th century developer Harry Wardman attached to real estate listings (often incorrectly, I might add). For whatever reason, the names of other, similarly prolific developers and architects are not as familiar. Clearly, the District of Columbia has seen decades of housing booms, each bringing particular styles, which contribute to the character of entire neighborhoods.
