carbque

A reader reports:

“Wanted to make everyone aware of a car that was dumped and set on fire in the G Street block in NE. Someone set a car on fire right next to a fence that proceeded to set fire at 1030am yesterday. It is a miracle it didn’t continue down the fence and damage the entire row of backyards, the tree or heaven forbid the houses. Please neighbors stay on alert!”

shame

“Dear PoPville,

I was on my way to work with morning when this speeding SUV veered into the bike lane on Columbus Circle by Union Station, coming within a foot of sending me to the ER. I went up to the car at the stoplight and politely asked the driver to please be mindful of cyclists, at which point the driver, an older gentleman in his late 50s, screamed through the window “I DON’T CARE! I SHOULD HAVE HIT YOU!”

So seeing as though I likely have no legal recourse, public shaming is all that’s left.”

DTC

Thanks to a reader for passing on:

“DDOT has proposed their plans for “fixing” the Dave Thomas Circle at Florida/New York/Eckington Place. They presented their plans on Tuesday night in NOMA and are looking for the public’s feedback by April 21st.”

Given how maddening Dave Thomas Circle has become – which of the five proposals below do you like best?

Which do you think they’ll go with?

Check out all the proposals after the jump. (more…)

noma dig

“Dear PoPville,

Developers started to dig up a parking lot in NoMa but have found brick outlines which are now being carefully sifted through. We’re all really curious to know what they might have found!”

Ed. Note: I asked former ANC Rep Tony Goodman about this and he says it’s the future FCC building at 45 and 55 L Street, NE.

Another reader with a different angle writes:

“it looks like there are old brick foundations/sidewalks beneath the parking lot they are digging up.”
