Eola is located at 2020 P Street, NW. It’s Web site says:

The menu is ever-changing, and expresses the true essence of each season.

We invite our guests to enjoy Eola in every way; the cozy and unpretentious interior; fabulous wines; well-crafted cocktails; the subtle and polished menu.

We look forward to sharing our love of food with you.”

You can see their menus here. Any fans? Must order items?

Back in March we learned that City2Cafe will become a proper “Homestyle Deli” at 1917 18th St, NW (north of T St). I chatted briefly with the owner who said that he is hoping to open this week. Thanks to a reader for the heads up that the construction had been completed. Stay tuned for a menu when it becomes available.

In real life, hipchickindc is actually the not-so-hip Suzanne Des Marais, an associate broker with Urban Pace. Voted one of the best real estate agents in DC by the Washington City Paper Readers’ Choice Poll in 2009, Suzanne is currently Chair of the DC Public Policy Committee for the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® and is President Elect of the Washington, DC Association of REALTORS®. She lives (and sells a lot of houses) in Bloomingdale, but works all over DC, with everyone from first time buyers to highly regarded developers.

Original GDoN is: here.

Listing is: here. Here is the virtual tour.

I recently had the good fortune to get to visit this house with a buyer client while it was on the market. Truly super cute, but, as was mentioned in the Good Deal or Not (GDoN) comments, it is a bit on the petite side of things. I have to admit, though, that personally I am a huge sucker for things like it supposedly being a house that Tallulah Bankhead lived in (challenged by a GDoN commenter).

This property has the kitchen located in the lower level, which, in this case, was below grade in the front of the house but a full walkout to a lovely shady garden patio. I have shown and sold a few houses with this layout feature, which was sometimes where the original kitchen was located in these Victorian era townhomes. The basement kitchens are not terribly unusual on The Hill, but are also found scattered sporadically through pre- 1910 neighborhoods all over the city. One benefit is that they tend to be larger than main floor kitchens.

Then there’s the location, which is very sweet. This part of 19th St NW is quietly tucked away, but within easy reach of Metro, restaurants, the Phillips Collection, Dupont Circle, and I could go on. You’d probably never need a car in this location, but it even has a parking spot.

According to @metrocurean, today you can get a free slice of pizza from 5 to 7pm at Flippin’ Pizza located at 1745 Connecticut Avenue, NW. (Sorry for the old picture but we’ve been anticipating this opening since Sept. ’09.) While you can get a free slice today, the grand opening is Friday. As a self proclaimed pizza expert I’ll be sure to check them out soon and report back.

And help a reader find her camera:

“Dear PoP,

I know it’s a long shot but … a drunk Sunday night turned into losing a camera. We re-traced our steps and realized it either fell out of my bfs pocket on the way to our car (parked at Harriet Tubman) from Wonderland or getting out of the car (which we moved because we were in a school zone) on 11th between Monroe and Otis.

The camera is a Canon S90 and something we can probably replace (although the camera is awesome!) but the pictures are irreplaceable – a best friends wedding, Twins game, an engagement celebration, Juicy Lucys in Minnesota and various other important events.

Any ideas or thoughts on what we should do?”

Anyone know of someone who found an S90 I’m sure the reader would be happy just getting the memory card back.

The building at the corner of Connecticut and N Streets, NW is finally completed. I think it looks awesome. Do you think it will age well? Overall thumbs up or down?

Incidentally has anyone heard any rumors of what retail will go in? Is there still a citibank here?

The Craigslist ad says:

“This house is absolutely beautiful! There are so many great features, we don’t know where to start! It has a large eat in kitchen with granite floors and counter tops; hardwood floors throughout the entire house; five skylights; two separate wooden spiral staircases; six rooms total; three full bathrooms; a roof top deck, two smaller decks out front; three separately zoned AC systems; gas heat; thermal pane windows; on-site washer and dryer…. and much much more!”

More photos available here.

Think $8500 sounds reasonable for this 6 bed/3 bath rental?

Yesterday I wrote about a new gourmet empanada spot, Panas that soft opened in Dupont Circle at 2029 P St, NW. Just got an email saying you can sample the goods for free on Friday. They write:

“To mark the opening day owner Federico Garcia Lopez will offer one free empanada from 11 am until 1 pm.

Panas specializes in Latin fusion gourmet empanadas, the crescent-shaped turnovers, stuffed with a variety of well-seasoned meats, vegetables, spices, fruits, and sweets. Signature recipes are inspired by the Latin Fusion cuisine; a culinary concept that combines traditional and modern gastronomic techniques with different ingredients from across the Americas.

The 1,100 square-foot restaurant is tiny with just 13 seats and bright with a mustard colored wall highlighted with green field turf. Serving in-restaurant, carry-out and delivery the Panas menu includes $2 empanadas ranging from meat, pork, chicken and ham filled delicacies like the Chipotle Steak with shredded sirloin steak, onion and chipotle sauce to vegetarian selections like the Popeye with sautéed spinach, onions, raisins and goat cheese. Side salads with a Latin flair are also on the menu – the primavera with red pepper, corn, cilantro and black beans is a favorite as is the jicama salad with lettuce, mango and carrots.”

Ezme is located at 2016 P St, NW (in the old Pesce spot). When we learned that they were coming to this spot folks had pretty hopes. Remember these are the folks that also own Meze in Adams Morgan. So far I’ve been hearing good things. You can see their menus here. Anyone check them out yet?
