Despite the popularity of Ernie the Flying Dog, Romo from Adams Morgan is the most photographed dog to appear on the site. I was very upset to read the following post from the forum:

Adams Morgan Dog Romo Dead?

Hey guys! I live in Adams Morgan and love seeing the big white dog, whose name is apparently Romo, hanging out his window on Calvert people watching in the summertime. I haven’t seen him recently, though, and noticed his owners put a plaque outside their window that says his name, Romo. I wonder if he passed away? That would be terribly sad!

Upon investigation I am happy to report Romo is alive and well! I stopped by yesterday and could see him looking out the window:

He just got a nice new name plate. So now when you walk by Calvert Street and see a big dog relaxing by/out the window – you can say – what’s up Romo?

Thanks to a reader for sending this beautiful group of flowers from Adams Morgan. Anyone know what’s going on in the center?

Also from the Forum:

I was walking my dog around 11 on Saturday night when I saw around 100 teenagers running from the police (some being taken down by the cops). They appeared to be coming from somewhere near the Marie Reed School (Florida, California, and 18th). Anyone know what happened? It was an incredibly strange sight.

From MPD around 830pm last night:

At approximately 2015 hours, Third District units responded to the 1700 block of Euclid Street, NW, for the sound of gunshots. Third District Officers are on the scene and currently investigating this matter. No victims have been located at this time.

and 10pm:

Complainants were not injured. We are still securing the scene and collecting evidence.

Lookout for the suspect in reference to this shooting is a juvenile hispanic male, 5’9, and medium build.

Any additional information please call 911 or the Command Information Center 202-727-9099.

Update from CM Jim Graham:

Early last evening, about 7 PM, a chance encounter between three Latino males resulted in shots being fired at 17th and Euclid. No one was injured. The shooter appears to be a member of the 17 crew. The good news is that there are video records (from the MPD camera on that corner, and another camera) of the crime. There are also cooperating witnesses. Hopefully that will result in the arrest of the shooter.

We have made solid progress fighting crime in this block, and we will not be deterred in those successful efforts by this setback . Chief Lanier has once again committed major police resources to this area.
