As always, to win just let me know why you want to go in the comments and I’ll pick a winner Friday.

816 H St, NE

According to Capital Bop:

This just in: Tony Puesan has reportedly said that he will reopen HR-57 next week, on Mar. 16, after approximately two months of delay.

The hold-up was due to an unanticipatedly slow process of procuring a liquor license.

HR 57’s new location is 816 H St. NE. I stand by my original reaction when we first heard the news in Nov. 10 – Devastating News for Logan Circle/Phenomenal News for H St, NE .

The sight below now makes me weep every time I pass it:

1610 14th Street, NW

“Come check out Galactic on Thursday night – Happy Hour Food & Drink Specials in the Backbar One Hour Before Doors!

From 6-7PM in Backbar you can get $6 Hurricanes – Happy Hour drink & food prices – Hang with the band – Raffles for prizes & tickets to future shows – First entry into the show!”

As always just let me know in the comments why you want to go and I’ll pick a winner tomorrow afternoon.

Sometimes I regret doing these contests because every time it is so hard to pick a winner.

Congrats to Bear! I’ll be launching the next ticket contest tomorrow. Ed. Note: If you don’t enter your email when you comment you won’t be able to win. The email will not be shared with others, I only use it to contact you.

If you didn’t win you can buy tickets here.

More about Yann Tiersen here.

For those of you bold enough to admit that you love glam rock this is for you. Enter your favorite glam rock band/memory for a chance to win two tickets. I’ll pick a winner Monday.

No, youʼre not having flashbacks. These intensely vivid heavy metalmemories youʼre about to experience will ignite in 2011. Kix, Warrant, LA Guns, Whitesnake, Tesla and Lita Ford will be among the acts taking over Merriweather Post Pavilion, playing full sets of their glam rock and heavy metal hits, along with other unexpected amazements.

In its third year, I.M.P. Presents M3 Rock Festival will add a Kick Off Party and Concert featuring full sets, since one day alone canʼt contain all this metal. The Official M3 Kix-Off Party will get things started Friday, May 13 at 7pm. The full-blown 2011 M3 Rock Festival begins Saturday, May 14 at Noon. Last year VIP and Pavilion seats sold out faster than you could flick your Bic, so headbangers hoping to get close enough to smell the sweat will want to be at their computers Thursday, Feb 3 at 10am EST for the insiders pre-sale. Only members of M3 Rockersʼ Forum will be given the pre-sale promo code. Fans can sign up for the Rockersʼ Forum here.

Discounted 2-Day Packages will go on sale to the general public Friday, Feb 4 at 10am EST. If there are any tickets remaining as of March 4 , they will go on sale as Single-Day tickets at 10 am EST through Ticketfly. Tickets can also be purchased at the Merriweather and 9:30 Club Box Offices. For more information, visit here.

“Dear PoP,

My name is Allison Manuel and I (with my husband Coite and friend Greg) started hosting DC house shows (826 7th St. NE) about a year ago. These shows are generally acoustic, alt-country, or indy in nature…or maybe just thoughtful? :)

check out our fan page here.

We usually have about 50 people attend our shows and it’s simply for the sake of creating good music in a home. I generally attract artists already on tour and are up for a different sort of venue. We have recently hosted: Chris Staples, Jill Andrews of the everybodyfields, Damien Jurado, Denison Witmer and others. Each time, we draw in about 50 people and the artists charge 10 dollars for entry with the artist taking the full cut. We generally offer to cook the band dinner or take them out and just make sure hospitality as well as getting a good solid audience gathered happens.

We have an upcoming show for a folk/bluegrass band called “the honey drewdrops” next friday (feb. 4). We have our fingers crossed for some other artists this spring… It’d be great to let the dc world know about these shows.

RSVP here.”

Sounds fun.

Here’s the second of the many new features being announced this week. Like Pablo’s photography tips, this one was a no brainer.

PoP will be partnering with the 9:30 Club to give away free concert tickets a few times a month. The first one is for Dr. Dog Friday Jan. 28th:

F 1/28
Dr. Dog
w/ The Head and The Heart
8:00 PM Doors
$20 – $35 Two Day Tickets available for purchase here.

Simply leave a comment about why you want to go to the show and I’ll pick the winner (+1) this Friday Jan. 21st.
