Pesto was located at 2915 Connecticut Ave, NW right near the National Zoo. We judged it here. I’ve always thought this location had lots of potential. I’ll def. be keeping an eye on this space to see who moves in.

Italian Pizza Kitchen will be located at 2608 Connecticut Ave, NW in the building currently getting renovated and housing the Debonair Cleaners. It’ll be on the left hand side of this rendering:

Italian Pizza Kitchen currently has a location at 4483 Connecticut Ave NW. You can see their menu here. According to their liquor license application:
“Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Occasional karaoke – No nude performances. Sidewalk café with 24 seats. Seating capacity is 70. Total occupancy is 150.”
Nude karaoke certainly would’ve been interesting…

This rental is located at 2824 Devonshire Pl NW:
The Craigslist ad says:
“-Updated Kitchen, Gas Stove, Hardwood Floors
-Water, Gas, Electric INCLUDED, Summer AC Fee ($50 per month per AC unit)
-Additional Storage Available, On-Site Manager, Vending Machines, Coin Operated Laundry”
Does $1420 sound reasonable for this 1 bedroom?

Actually I have no idea, and was hoping somebody knew what was up? This has been a grass plot between the bridge to Dupont Circle and the on ramp to Rock Creek Parkway for as long as I can remember. Do you think a building could be going up here? Has anyone heard anything at all?

This condo is located at 3100 Connecticut Ave, NW:
The flyer says:
“Wonderfully renovated sunny top-floor 1 Br + den. Newly designed kitchen, stunning glass backsplash, custom maple cabinets, granite & new Bosch SS appl. Marble floored bathroom w/ custom vanity, mosaic backsplash & rainfall shower head. Gleaming Georgia pine wood floors with large foyer. Spacious master bedroom, double-size cedar-lined closets. Pet friendly building. Parking for 18 cars.”
You can find more info here and photos here.
That is a pretty cool backsplash! Though I’m guessing the parking for 18 cars is a typo? Note that a neighbor just went under contract for $364,000 and a studio on a lower floor is going for $199,000.
But for this unit do you think $384,900 is reasonable for this 1 bed+den/1bath?

New Heights is located at 2317 Calvert St, NW next to Open City.
In addition to a restaurant, apparently it’s also a Gin Joint. But back to the food, you can see all their menus here. Any fans? Any must order items? Do folks ever just go for the bar?

Bombe Chest is a located at 2629 Connecticut Ave, NW. I had not idea it was a volunteer store.

JSSA stands for Jewish Social Service Agency. Sounds like a great organization:
“Our wide range of counseling, educational and career services, in-home support, hospice and nursing care and social services are provided by our highly skilled and caring staff of mental health and nursing professionals. JSSA provides services and support for more than 25,000 individuals a year, from the very young to the very old.”
Unfortunately the store is closing July 17th and will not be reopening in a new location. If you’d like you can still visit the store – Sat., Tues., Wed., and next Sat.
At the end of May we learned that nearby Sake Club had abruptly closed 2635 Connecticut Ave, NW.
Since we frequently judge curb cuts I thought this story would be of interest. WTOP’s Mark Segraves reports:
“A homeowner in Northwest D.C. is being ordered to remove his driveway that’s been in front of his house for nearly three years. The reason: the homeowner’s handicapped mother has died.”
The article discusses whether or not DDOT’s letter was rude but I think the more interesting part of the story is that the city can make you remove a driveway (as the driveway was only permitted because of the owner’s handicapped mother in the first place).

I’m happy to report that the pitbull, Chloe Moo Moo Poundcake, stolen/lost from a Truxton Circle home has been found! I’m told:
“The DC Animal Shelter found Moo Moo late last night! The owner is ecstatic and grateful for everyone’s help.”

I’m also told Leo was spotted at the zoo so hopefully there will be good news on that front as well.

This beauty is from PoPville flickr user icubaji taken in Woodley Park overlooking Rock Creek Park (if memory serves).
