“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth Investigations Division announced that on Thursday, February 5, 2015, 33-year-old Leroy Damein Ware of Northeast, DC, a Miner Elementary School teacher, was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant and charged with Misdemeanor Sex Abuse of a Child.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a First Degree Sexual Abuse while Armed that occurred in the 1500 block of Isherwood Street, Northeast.

On Sunday, July 13, 2014, between 1:00 am and 1:30 am, an adult female was inside of her residence located in the 1500 block of Isherwood Street, NE, when the suspect entered and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a black male, tall, medium to heavy build, dark complexion, short hair, tattoo on the neck, 40’s, white t-shirt and blue jeans; armed with a handgun.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. DC Crime Solvers currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for an assault committed in the District of Columbia.”

Last evening we had an adult male that was shot and later succumb to his injuries at a local area hospital. This criminal offense is being investigated as a Homicide and we are re-canvassing the area for additional evidence and witnesses at this time.

Update from MPD:

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 400 block of 18th Street, Northeast.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at approximately 9:42 pm, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 400 block of 18th Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, a crime scene was located and further investigation revealed that the victim was transported by citizens to an area hospital. The victim, an adult male was admitted in critical condition suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 45 year-old Lawrence David Phillips of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Rosedale Community Center and Library
New Building Multi-Purpose Recreation / Community Center / 26,200 SF / Washington, DC

The new Rosedale Community Center and Library will replace the current dilapidated building, rejuvenating this neighborhood with improved community amenities. The community center will have a gymnasium, meeting rooms for general purposes as well as for the teen and senior age groups, a community kitchen, and fitness room. Outside of the building users will find a new swimming pool, new artificial turf field, basketball court and playground.

The design is straightforward and is comprised of three rectangular buildings, a gymnasium wing, community center wing, and a library wing with a central entry point. The community center wing will be housed under a green roof and provide storm water retention and filtration, the 9,000 sf green roof will help reduce the heat island effect providing points for LEED certification. The new building, designed to LEED Gold standards, is intended to provide a modern facility to foster activities such as continuing education, arts and crafts, indoor sports as well as neighborhood meetings and events.

The Rosedale Community Center and Pool is located at 1701 Gales St., NE.
