Ben’s Chili Bowl H Street NE Location to Begin Construction in October/November

In April we learned that Ben’s Chili Bowl would be opening up a 2nd location at 10th and H St, NE. In June we learned this location was gonna feature a roof deck. @HStreetDC_ has an updated status report:

“Construction on new @benschilibowl on #HStDC to begin in October, November at latest. First round of permits from @dcra have been issued.”

New Restaurant, The Spot On H, Coming to 1255 H Street, NE

The former location of Baitul Khair at 1255 H St, NE is getting completely gutted. Turns out it is going to be a new restaurant called The Spot On H. A liquor license application says:

“New Restaurant, offering American Cuisine, Entertainment Endorsement to include 2 to 3 piece Jazz Band, Summer Garden with 35 seats. Number of seats inside is 88, with total occupancy load of 126.”

It’s a pretty huge corner space:

Dear PoPville – What’s Going on With Tacos Impala Which Was Supposed to Come to H Street?

Dear PoPville,

I walked by Tacos Impala on H st tonight and saw this paper that was put up this afternoon. It is a stop work order that says the violation is “exceeding the scope of permit”. I thought this place was suppose to be open already but looks like they are far from done. Any information on what is going on?

Back in Sept. 2011 we first heard Tacos Impala was planning on coming to 1358 H St, NE. Unfortunately progress has been a bit slow. Back Dec. 2011 they also had a stop work order. I know they were very popular when they were operating out of 1204 H Street so hopefully they will get back on track soon.
