Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have announced that an arrest has been made in connection to the Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault while Armed and Burglary I which occurred in the 2700 block of Chesapeake Street, NW.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at approximately 10:00 am, a subject entered a residence, produced a Taser, and attempted to sexually assault an adult female before fleeing. It has been learned that the suspect knew the victim.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 58-year-old Paul Mannina of Ashton, Maryland, was charged with Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault while Armed and Burglary I while Armed.
The crime reported in Forest Hills yesterday has gotten even more disturbing. MPD issued a crime alert this morning:
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with an Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault while Armed and Burglary I which occurred in the 2700 block of Chesapeake Street, NW.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at approximately 10:00 am, an unknown subject entered a residence, produced a Taser, and attempted to sexually assault the adult female before fleeing.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’6” in height, approximately 180 pounds, grey hair, approximately 50 years of age; wearing a black T shirt, blue jeans, and possibly driving a red vehicle.
Anyone with information that can assist in the identification of these suspects is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Event location: 2700 block of Chesapeake Street, NW
On June 5, 2013, at approximately 10:00 AM,an unknown male suspect knocked on the complainant’s front door. The complainant opened the door and the suspect sprayed pepper spray/mace to the complainant’s face. Next, the suspect struck the complainant in the face with a closed fist. At this time, it appears that nothing was stolen from the complainant’s residence. The suspect made good his escape in a small red vehicle with unknown state registration. Lookout for a White male, 50’s, taller 5-foot-5 in height, grayish brown hair, wearing black t-shirt, blue jeans.
Residents should use caution in opening their doors to unsolicited visitors.
