I’m throwing this one out there for fellow fans of Riggs Place (see today’s house and door of the day). This 2 bed/1 bath is going for $525,000 ($415 condo fee). Sound right?

The Craigslist ad says:

“This top floor effiency is located in the heart of Dupont circle near restaurant and shops. Walk to metro. Wall to wall carpet, washer dryer and diswasher in unit.”

Even thought the Dunkin Donuts closed… does $1250 sound reasonable for this efficiency?

Ed. note: This is for the reader who requested a non-basement option. I’m patting myself on the back for this find…

Long time Dupont resident, Coffee and the Works, will be closing up shop after 31 years at 1627 Connecticut Ave, NW. They will remain open until Jan. 31st. Their Web site saya:

Unique shop offering a wide variety of gourmet coffee, tea, chocolate, Stonewall specialty salad dressings, sauces, candies and bake mixes. As well as hand-crafted wood, metal, horn, shell, ceramic, glass and crystal home decor by reknowned artists. We also carry an extensive line of tabletop accessories and gadgets by Alessi, Francis Francis, Ritzehoff and fun quirky items by FRED and Anne Taintor, Japanese tea pots, Bialetti espresso makers, Bodum French press coffee pots and a whole lot more.

There were a number of pretty rough reviews on Yelp. Any fans out there?

And remember this is right next door to the former location of the Lambda Rising bookstore which rumor says is now slated to become a Comfort One shoes store:

I thought I’d throw one more fun one up before I hit the road. This one was listed at $2,350,000 – did they buyers get a good deal?

It’s been a big week for expansions as we just learned that Bar Pilar will also be expanding soon at 1833 14th St, NW. Komi located at 1509 17th Street, NW has long been on my special occasion must try restaurants list. We judged Komi back in Feb. ’09. And now it soon looks like I might get a chance to try them out. Even before Pres. Obama visited the restaurant it has always been tough to get a reservation.

A recent liquor license amendment says:

“The licensee requests the following substantial change of an Expansion of the premises for the space below and adjacent to the current premises. This will include an additional 6 seats adjacent and 26 seats below for a total increase to 74 seats. There is an additional expansion to increase the Sidewalk Café seating by 20 seats.”

I’m guessing that’s going to be into the dry cleaners space. Do you think an expansion is a good idea?

Brickskeller recently closed on Dec. 18th at 1523 22nd St NW. When I stopped by on Sunday the awning was taken down and signs were up announcing the new name and opening date. WTOP got a bit of background:

“We found that the name Bier Baron rolled off the tongue and was easy to remember,” Merrifield says.

When the bar opens, there will be 350 different kinds of beers left over from the Brickskeller. Those beers will be part of a special “Brickskeller blowout” menu.

Five hundred other new beers have already been ordered as well.

And they say the new awning should be up by Friday. Looking forward to see/hear if the new incarnation will win back some old fans.

I just noticed that House of Kabob has opened up at 2029 P St, NW above Panas Empanadas. According to their Web site:

“Food Corner Kabob was started by the owner Najib Sidiqi. The first branch of Food Corner was in Annandale, VA, an area populated with a diverse community from all areas of the globe. Najib put his Afghani homestyle recipes to work in his kitchen and founded an original and authentic Afghani cuisine. This restaurant is not only popular to local Afghans, but to all who enjoy a great flavored and very well portioned meal at great price.”

You can see their menus here. Anyone check them out yet? Any fans?
