Alright not arms but letter writing. I had discussed the Yes! Organic Market not being able to get a liquor license in a previous scuttlebutt post. Well, I’m now hearing that this may be a deal breaker for them. Remember there is supposed to be a Yes! Organic market coming to the corner of Georgia and Taylor. I truly believe that this will be a phenomenal addition to the community. So if they need a liquor license to be profitable, hell, let’s get them a liquor license. In the short term I suggest anyone who wants Yes! Organic market to come to the area to email our Council Member, Muriel Bowswer, your concerns: [email protected]

On happier scuttlebutt news I have received another tip from a very well placed source that the Ellwood Thompson Grocery store slated to come to DC USA is a done deal. So that makes two tips from very well placed sources. Very cool.

Looks like the fantasy edition house sold in less than two months. I wonder if it went for the almost $1.3 million. Can any sleuths out there find out what the final sales price was?

So is this any indication that the market is beginning to stabilize in DC? Or was this house just that sweet?

The good folks at New Columbia Heights have let me know that our beer and wine options will soon be expanded. As a prolific drinker I am glad to hear this news. But personally I haven’t had a problem getting beer at the Giant. What I’d really like to know is what folks think about D’Vines. D’Vines, located next to the Starbucks on 14th St, seems like a better option to get wine. Despite having taken a wine class, and barely passing, I always appreciate knowledgeable folks advising me on my wine selections. So what’s the word on D’vines have people been enjoying it? Is it your go to spot for beer and wine or will Target become your go to spot?

Good lord. I sometimes wonder if it is ever going to end. Right? It can’t be a normal way of life to have a drive by shooting around 4pm on a Sunday. I had gotten complacent about these shootings in the past but this one just turned my stomach. Thankfully, I don’t think anyone was hit but I’m not sure. I saw loads of MPD walking up and down the street presumably looking for shell casings. Not that this behavior is acceptable in the late evening hours but I find it particularly egregious that it can and does occur during the day. I mean this should be plastered across the front page of the Washington Post. Mayor Fenty and Chief Lanier should be hosting a press conference to discuss how this behavior will not be tolerated. Could you imagine if there was a drive by shooting at 4pm on a Sunday off of Connecticut Avenue?

How long is it going to take before this activity stops? Will I be able to look back five years from now and say to myself, “wow, I can’t believe there was a drive by shooting in the middle of the day right off 14th Street”? Ten years?

“In a quandary about take-home food last Friday, I stopped to try out the new Korean menu upstairs at Mayorga. I ordered a Mandu Kuk soup, a Bul Go Ki Donb rice, and Joe Yock Bock entrée. The soup dish had dumplings, the rice dish was with beef, and the entrée was with barbequed pork (normally served on a sizzling platter). The food came with a good array of side dishes, including very good and spicy kimchee. We had to spice up the flavor in the soup a bit, but the dumplings were terrific. The beef dish was the best. The total cost, including the happy hour beer I had while waiting, was $47 without the tip. I was very happy, and intend to go back for a sit-down meal.”

Sounds good but is $47 reasonable for all that?

From a reader:

“We are trying to build and demonstrate support for a dog park at the corner of 11th and Park (across from RedRocks and the future Meridian Pint). This is a small piece of land currently owned and used by Metro for ventilation.

Can you please ask your dog owning and non-dog owning readers to take a moment to sign the petition? Of course we would love the PoP’s stamp of approval on this as well! http://www.petitiononline.com/chdogs/petition.html

Thanks!

JR”

I think it’s a great idea. Best of luck!

Located at 3011 13th Street, NW this one is a “brand new custom built home brought to you by Leyla Phelan and Evers & Co.”. The flier says, “3 luxurious levels, meticulously renovated…4 bedrooms, 3 spa-like baths, a powder room, open floor plan, parking and a palatial outdoor roof deck.” Holy cow a palatial outdoor roof deck on 13th Street sounds pretty fresh. And I found the photos online here. Pretty sick. I think we may have a winner here. Of course it’s still way out of my league but it’s nice to see something this dope on 13th Street below a million. The price is $824,500. So good deal or not?

Didn’t Red Rocks used to have regular tables in the outdoor area? I wonder if they were influenced by Wonderland. What do you think, do you prefer picnic tables to proper tables? I can appreciate picnic tables but I think when I’m out to eat a meal I prefer to have a back on my chair. What about you guys?
