It’s been a while since we checked in on Cleveland Park developments. Since the Cereal Bowl opened in the old Starbucks spot there has been a lot of change. The new Ripple restaurant has opened up in the old Aroma space, similar layout but looks good:

Walgreen’s has opened:

New tanning spot in old consignment store space and new manicure spot in old SuperCuts space:

Alas no movement on the Diner that the was slated to come to the old McDonald’s space:

Whenever we have spoken about pizza around DC, Vace inevitably comes up in the comments. And rightfully so, in my opinion, the pizza is fantastic. However, I realized we’ve never properly judged the deli for other options – like the sandwiches. I can say that the frozen eggplant parmigiana is one of my all-time favorite meals. Vace is located at 3315 Connecticut Ave, NW (though they also have a Bethesda location). You can see their deli menu here. So besides the pizza what else is good to order?

The Craigslist ad says:

“This large lower level sunny apartment of a single family home, has its own separate and private entrance. The apartment is newly renovated and has exotic hardwood floors throughout. It features a large full bath with a vanity with a granite counter top and ceramic tiling on floors and walls. This apartment features a beautiful Eat-in kitchen with Granite Counter Tops, High End (Jenn Air) Stainless Steel appliances (Jenn Air Convection Oven) and Stainless Steel cabinets. It has 9 foot ceilings and is not the typical basement apartment as it is apart of a tri-level contemporary home. All utiities, electric, water, and gas are included. It also includes a washer and dryer. It’s located within a 8 minute walk to the Tenleytown subway and a 5 minute walk to the Cleveland Park subway.”

I’d never heard of a luxury basement apartment before but I gotta admit the bedroom looks pretty cool with those windows. Do you think $1895 sounds reasonable for this location?

I’m thinking this sounds like a pretty good deal. What do you think about $1500 for a 1 bed in this location?

The Craigslist ad says:

“Your home features a huge walk-in closet the size of a bedroom, carpet and an eat-in kitchen to boot!

Stop looking and start living, this home offers prime location for less! Located in the heart of Adams Morgan just steps from Cleveland Park metro station (Red line); choose the convenience of walking to shops and stores or metro to your desired location.”

Why would they say “in the heart of Adams Morgan” when this is nowhere near the heart of Adams Morgan? Not to mention Cleveland Park is a desirable area in and of itself.

Anyway does $1225 sound reasonable for this 500 square foot studio (no pets)?

This another rental on the red line but I promise to hit a green line spot tomorrow! This one is located at “Rodman Street NW at Connecticut Avenue NW”:

The Craigslist ad says:

“TWO BLOCKS to the Red Line, Cleveland park Metro Stop. Also several bus routes as the cross streets are Porter, Connecticut and Rodman. Tons of cafe’s, bars, restaurants, gyms, yoga studios. Short 4 block walk to the zoo, or take the bus line on connecticut… Rock creek park is literally a five minute walk away. Amazing location, really.

The apartment is full of windows, tons of character, carpeted, perfect for a couple or one person. Very large living room, giant kitchen which can easily fit a small table and some chairs. Tons of closet space. Cable ready.”

The original poster says the photos don’t do it justice but you can see a few here.

Does $1425 sound reasonable for this 1 bedroom?

Ed. Note: thanks to a reader for sending the initial heads up about Enology closing.

Enology Wine Bar located at 3238 Wisconsin Avenue, NW has closed and will reopen as Alliance Tavern:

Word on the street was that the owners will remain the same. However, the new place seems like it will be much more casual than Enology. A sign said that new space will also have a DJ.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of the Wine bar trend? But before I jump to conclusions I have to add that this location may be cursed as it seems to change businesses/names every few years. What do you guys think – has the wine bar trend run its course? Do you think we’ll see other wine bars around town either close or change their style?
