OK so maybe that little hotel will also contribute to this new era. Dan sends from the “42 bus as it was rushing by.”
Ed. Note: The dedication demonstrated by PoPville contributors knows no equal. And I am forever grateful.
This is the former Pollo Granjero space that closed back in August 2016.

A reader reports:
“A man was robbed and beaten very badly last night around 11:00pm on Summit place and 18th St. Please pass this along, hope the man is ok, thank you. The Ontario apartments got an email, the neighbors heard the ambulance at 12am and was a big police presence. I live in the 1800 block of Summit and the crime was a block away. We have had few muggings around here but nothing like this.”

From a press release:
“As of this week, the vinyl version of ALB’s Rock the Stacks, a compilation album is for sale at several record stores across the city. The album, whose proceeds benefit the DC Public Library Foundation, includes songs by artists including Thievery Corporation, Furniteur, Warm Sun, Fort Knox Five, Benjy Ferree and many more. Several tracks on the album were recorded in the DC Public Library’s state-of-the-art recording studio, formerly located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, which is currently closed for modernization. The vinyl version was produced by local vinyl pressing company, Furnace, located in Fairfax, Virginia, and each vinyl copy also includes a digital download code. Stores that are currently selling the record include, Red Onion Records, Songbyrd, Smash Records, Som Records and Proper Topper. The vinyl and digital download can also be purchased online at dcplf.org/rockthestacks. ALB’s Rock the Stacks came together in memory of Annie Lou Berman (ALB), an essential member of the D.C. creative community and board member of the D.C. Public Library Foundation, who succumbed to cancer last year. (more…)
