This might just be an ornamental balcony I don’t see any chairs. Are there such things as non functional decorative balconies?

That’s some nice urban recycling… What is that anyway a milk jug?

In the business we call this target hardening. Of course if you brick around your flower pots, the flowers are still vulnerable but it’s a good start…

This is one way to deal with it. How would you deter flower thieves? Is this a real problem? Who the hell steals flowers anyway?

This is on the corner of 17th and Kenyon. I ran into a landscape architect, Peter Chase, who decided to plant sunflowers around the base of the lamppost. I’ll have to go back in a month or so to see how it turns out. I think it’s cool that people take the initiative to beautify public spaces.

This is another one that is more flowers of the day than garden of the day but I do enjoy saying garden of the day. Anyway, these are awesome. What kind are they? Incidentally, many of the rose bushes around town actually also smell fantastic. A neighbor alerted me to that fact. So I’ll pass on the info – next time you see a rose bush take a second and stop to smell the roses.

I told you it was becoming a trend! Is it wrong that I think of cremated bodies when I see these things? I guess it’s better than a Folger’s Coffee container…

Not exactly a full fledged garden but I support the old school wheelbarrow planter.

This one is pretty sweet. There is also one of the nicest outdoor benches I’ve seen facing this urn. Looks like a nice place to read the paper and admire the urn. Photo of the outdoor bench after the jump. (more…)

Straight up flower edition.
