ART WALK: Come check out the Art Walk at Monroe Street Market for its first event of the year. The artist’s studios will be open, the live music will be playing, and the cocktails will be flowing. Try your hand at pottery or watercolor painting, and enjoy treats from &pizza, Busboys and Poets, Holy Crepes food truck, and more. (Monroe Street Market, 5 – 8 p.m., FREE)

SNOW CHILD: Tonight marks the world premiere of the musical Snow Child, which is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. It follows a couple in the 1920s Alaskan wilderness trying to rebuilding their marriage after losing a child. Then everything changes as soon as a child emerges from the woods surrounding their cabin… (Arena Stage, times and prices vary)

CRAFT + COCKTAILS: Collaging gets amped up a notch with cocktails at Shop Made in D.C. Tonight, join Capitol Hill Arts Workshop teacher Cherie Lester to make a collage on ready-to-hang hardwood. Choose from fabric, paint, paper, or bring your own memorabilia; whatever you choose, Lester will be there to help you lay out the design. (Did we mention there’ll be cocktails?) FLOWER CROWN + PLAY: The Lemon Collective will take things off-site for tonight’s event. Meet the crew at Folger Theater to make your own flower crown before heading in to see its production of The Winter’s Tale. CHERRY BLOSSOM PARADE: It’s the big finale of all the cherry blossom madness–the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. Head to Constitution Avenue to watch the seasonal celebration hosted by ACB7’s Alison Starling and Jonathan Elias. Keep your eyes peeled for big-time cameos like rapper Silento, Cara Mund aka Miss America, and Carla Hall of The Chew. (Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Streets, 10 a.m., FREE)

VINO, PLZ: The weather is going to be awesome today, so if you need even more excuses to head out and drink, look no further than DC Wine Fest’s spring shindig. Sample vinos from a bevy of wineries both local and afar while taking in the art at Long View Gallery. There will be live music and food, too. (Long View Gallery, times and prices vary)

YOU’RE THE EXPERT: The podcast You’re the Expert uses comedy to dive into scientific research. In each episode, comedians try to guess what a scientist studies, and tonight it’s taping an episode live in DC. Come hear comedians like Scott Adsit from Veep and 30 Rock try to figure out how a National Geographic Explorer spends his or her days. (National Geographic Museum, 6:30 – 9 p.m., $25)

EMANCIPATION DAY: It’s Emancipation Day, the celebration of President Abraham Lincoln freeing slaves in the District of Columbia (which he did prior to signing the Emancipation Proclamation). To commemorate the historic event, there will be a concert, parade, and fireworks in Freedom Plaza. The best part? Singer Brandy will be there performing. ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN (AND WOMEN): The Watergate Hotel break-in happened almost 46 years ago, but living in DC makes it seem all the more present. Go on an All the President’s Men-themed tour around the city, stopping by sites connected to the actual break-in as well as those from the book and movie. Unfortunately, it’s TBD if Robert Redford will show up. (Meet at Foggy Bottom Metro Station, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., $9.95)

DIRTBAG: Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey is a documentary about a trail-blazing mountaineer who died last year at the age of 94. Come hear about his epic stories about  completing some of the most historic mountain ascents ever. Beer and wine will be provided at the event, and you can enter to win a pair of REI climbing pants. FIRST FRIDAYS: It’s First Friday in Park View and Petworth tonight! Come party along Georgia Avenue with live music, food and drink, and art from the Petworth Arts Collective. SWEDISH JAMS: New Tide Orquestra is a Swedish group that plays a mix of chamber and baroque music (with some improve and tango thrown in for good measure, too). CHERRY BLOSSOM WINE + BEER: Everything cherry blossom has taken the city by storm, so there’s gotta be some kind of boozy festival dedicated to the blooms, too. Check out the Cherry Blossom Wine and Beer Festival for over 100 wines, craft beers, and ciders, as well as games, an artisan market, food trucks, live music, and more. If you buy a ticket, you automatically get full beer, cider, and wine spritzer pours-a win-win, no? (TK, 1 p.m., TK)

ADULT PILLOW FIGHT: This is basically like a free anger management session – the 10th annual D.C. pillow fight is today. BYOP (bring your own pillow) and meet at the park at Independence Avenue and 14thStreet to partake in the silliness. KAYAK + BLOSSOMS: As part of the Cherry Blossom Festival, head to the Wharf’s boathouse for kayaking. The self-guided tour takes you on a front-row view of the blossoms along East Potomac Park. You can get a double or a single kayak, and no experience is necessary. (The Wharf, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., $35 – $70)

KIMCHI JUICE: Head to H Street restaurant Maketto tonight to check out work by artist Julia Chon. Best known as Kimchi Juice, her art often features animals flipping off the viewer (check her out on Instagram). METRO HISTORY: Despite all the Metro delays and shortcomings, it’s still an interesting part of Washington’s history. Come learn more about it at tonight’s talk, An Example of the Nation: Modernism and Classicism in the Washington Metro. CHOCOLATE, PLEASE: Cut out the middle make and learn how to make chocolate yourself. Ismael Neggaz, the man behind Chocotenango, will be at Shop Made in D.C. for a hands-on workshop. You’ll learn about the history of chocolate, how to discern good vs. mediocre stuff, and make some treats, too. (Shop Made In D.C., 6 – 8:30 p.m., $80)

TOTALLY AWESOME CON: Awesome Con is the District’s version of Comic Con, aka an event bringing together fans of comic and the movies, books, games, and TV shows they inspire. SEDER: Need somewhere to celebrate Passover? Teddy & the Bully Bar will host a special Seder tonight and Saturday, complete with matzoh ball soup, potato latkes, gefilte fish, and brisket. BURNING MAN: Whether you’re a Burner (Burning Man attendee) or wouldn’t be caught dead waving a glow stick in the desert, this new exhibit at the Renwick is pretty cool. No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man opens today, and it follows the evolution of the radical festival. PRIX-FIXE POP UP: Ampara Fondita is a forthcoming Mexican restaurant focusing on seafood. Before it opens its brick-and-mortar location, check out its cuisine at a pop-up. Hosted at Timber Pizza, the four-course prix-fixe menu offers dishes like grilled squid, wood-roasted pineapple, mussels, and whole red snapper. (Timber Pizza Company, 7 – 10 p.m., $90)

DOCU NIGHT: Little Voices from Fukushima is a documentary about mothers and their children living in areas affected by nuclear disasters. It looks at both Chernobyl and Fukushima, and compares the effects of both on their surrounding environments, and the recuperation efforts to help those affected. WOMEN IN STEM: To wrap up Women’s History Month, come to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, where it will host an event focused on women in STEM fields. TULIP FESTIVAL: Today and tomorrow, the park at CityCenter will be filled with over 40,000 tulips. You can walk through it and enjoy the flowers for free, and it’s just a dollar per stem to take some home. Get as many as you can – all funds raised will support DC Central Kitchen. ASTRAL WEEKS: Washington Post‘s David Malitz recently released a book, Astral Weeks, which looks at the story behind Van Morrison’s album of the same name. Malitz will be at Right Proper tonight do a reading, answer questions, and sign copies of the book. Fittingly, the brewery’s Astral Weeks beer will be on-tap all night. (Right Proper Brewing Company, 7 – 9 p.m., FREE)

ONE JOURNEY: One Journey is a group that promotes refugee entrepreneurs and celebrates their contributions. Come to its fundraiser tonight and enjoy food, coffee, and art all made by local refugees. There will be speakers and a raffle, too. (The Warner Building, 7 – 9 p.m., $85)

FOLGER FRIDAYS: It may be hard to imagine Shakespeare as a graphic novel, but that’s the kind of thing illustrator Gareth Hinds creates. TO DYE FOR: The Freer|Sackler museum launches its latest exhibit today. To Dye For: Ikats from Central Asia looks at the history of the now-popular fabric used by designers like the late Oscar de la Renta. The collection mixes 30 ikat pieces from the museums collection with several de la Renta creations, highlighting its cultural legacy and lasting presence. (Freer|Sackler, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., FREE)

MARCH: Even if it’s not your thing, there’s no arguing that the March For Our Lives will be a historic event. Whether you’re protesting or just there to check it out, there are plenty of events happening around it, including musical performances by the likes of Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. THE PUPPET LOBBY: Whether you’re a puppet expert, novice, or just curious, The Puppet Lobby is a monthly get-together that showcases local puppeteers and connects you with fellow puppet people. This month, puppet designer Lisi Stoessel, artist Francisco Benavides, and Wit’s End Puppets member Amy Kellett will be leading the discussion and info session. OPA!: Head to Zaytinya this week for its inaugural Greek Spirit Festival. From today to Friday, the restaurant will have tastings and special cocktails that highlight Greece’s traditional spirits and drinks. DRINK 4 GOOD: Speed Rack is a national competition that pits female bartenders against each other in round robin-style, judged and timed face-offs. CHERRY BLOSSOM FEVER: Unless you live under a rock, you probably know it’s cherry blossom season in DC. That extends to ARTECHOUSE, too – check out the spot’s new exhibit Cherry Blossom Dream. It’s an interactive, digital exhibit that has you stepping into 3D-koi ponds and walking amongst cherry blossoms. (ARTECHOUSE, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., $8 – $15)

THREE BALLETS: If you’re a ballet-lover, tonight’s your night. Three pieces by rising choreographers will premiere tonight at Sidney Harman Hall. Clifton Brown of Alvin Ailey will premiere Menagerie,  American Ballet Theater dancer Gemma Bond will show Myriad (which looks at female gender roles), and another ABT dancer, Marcelo Gomes, will show his piece The Outset. ISLAND FEAST: It may not be spring yet in DC, but you can pretend at an island-themed soiree. Big Bear Cafe will host a pop-up for the forthcoming Coconut Club restaurant, which will open soon in Union Market. Chef Adam Greenberg is a four-time Chopped winner, and his spot will serve up Hawaiian dishes like Spam and fried rice and Tiki drinks. Try it all tonight before the new spot opens. CHICKS MAKIN’ BEER: Learn about women in the beer-making world at the Museum of American History’s event Innovative Lives: How Women Shaped the Alcohol Industry. From Colonial days to Prohibition to today, women have been integral parts of the booze biz. A panel featuring the women behind groups like Denizen Brewery, Stoudt’s Brewery, and Wigle Whiskey will be in the house, too. (National Museum of American History, 6:30 – 9 p.m., $40)

MILLENNIAL WONDERLAND: Okay,so  it opened last week, but what would an event roundup be without mentioning the Cherry Blossom Pop-Up Bar? This year, there are 90,000 blossoms and 1,300 butterflies in the space, not to mention an actual smoke-blowing Godzilla. S’MORE IS S’MORE: Get your sweet fix while warming up at the Navy Yard’s Osteria Morini today and tomorrow. The waterfront Italian restaurant will have its outdoor fire pit going, and there will be all the fixings needed to make some kickass s’mores.
