This is a classic old school double door. I’ve got to imagine it’s at least 100 years old or so.

I’ve tried to photograph this one from Bloomingdale a few times to get the stained glass on the inner door. You can sorta see it in this photo:

Sorry the photo is a bit blurry but my hand was encased in a block of ice by this point in my walkabout. What I wanted to point out was that the door itself was super sweet but would benefit from an old school doorknob easily picked up at a place like the Brass Knob in Adams Morgan.

A bit beat up but still has its own quiet beauty.

While I like the door itself, particularly the window, I was most struck by how cool it looked sunken into the stone front.

Well it’s not exactly a door or even a gate for that matter but I thought it was pretty unusual. It’s on Shepherd Street up in Petworth. I like how it was built above the big rock…

This is officially the most requested door of the day on PoP. Fortunately it always brings me pleasure to post it. I think this is the third different request for this one. The reader writes:

“It is really whimsical and really out of place among all the embassies and fancy homes of the well to do along R street between 21st and 22nd Streets. Notice the post that looks like a tree trunk, which is mirrored on the door knocker.”

This is a re-PoP from 13th Street in Columbia Heights, but a reader suggested it as door of the day. I do love this door (and the little sculpture to the left) it was one of the earliest door of the day recipients back in the day. I’ve never seen one that had slats like this before.
