The pizza ovens are installed so hopefully they’ll be open soon:

From their Website:

“Unfailing goodness of real authentic NY-style pie handcrafted and baked in 2-inch thick old-school deck oven!”

“A new restaurant is coming to the old Sam & Harrys spot next to Mai Thai near 19 & M.”

This is Teddy & the Bully Bar from the owner of Lincoln located at 1110 Vermont Ave, NW. The liquor license for Teddy’s says:

“A fine dining, full service restaurant serving American food for lunch and dinner with seating for 244 patrons and total occupancy load of 317. Request a sidewalk café with 40 seats and entertainment endorsement.”

The Satellite Room will be the newest venture from the Hilton Brothers who most recently opened the Brixton nearby at 9th and U St, NW. The Satellite Room will focus on burgers and tacos. On the drink side, in addition to a proper bar and a focus on beer, they will offer adult milkshakes. It will likely open in mid to late September. Though the seating wasn’t set up and the space wasn’t decorated yet, I was able to take a look and was amazed at how large the space is:

There is also is a nice outdoor area with a separate bar:

Lots more photos after the jump. (more…)

800 F St, NW

Yesterday we learned some scuttlebutt I heard was true – Shake Shack would be coming to the cafe space in the Spy Museum. Now comes word of what will happen to the former Zola space – from a Douglas Development press release:

Douglas Development is pleased to announce that Washington, DC restaurant icon Ashok Bajaj has leased 8,300 square feet in the Douglas Development-owned property at 800 F Street NW—The Spy Museum Building.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with having Ashok in this signature property. His reputation for innovative, creative, and successful restaurants is well known,” said Douglas Development Principal, Norman Jemal, “To have him join our other retail and restaurant partners illustrates the vitality and continued importance of the F Street corridor to residents and visitors alike. Jemal added, “This coupled with Shake Shack will only continue to add to the energy of Downtown.”

Ashok Bajaj said, “We know Penn Quarter extremely well—our 701 was one of the first restaurants in this neighborhood. We’re delighted to be in this historic building and work with Norman Jemal and the rest of the Douglas Development team.”

“Just walked by and the door was propped open so I thought I’d snap some photos and share. Any idea when it’s supposed to open? Can’t wait!”

Back in early June we noted their good sense of humor. One of the owners tells me that while they don’t have an exact opening date, if all goes well, they are hoping for a September opening. Updates as construction progresses.
