About the major police presence/helicopter in Brightwood Park yesterday/last night

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault on a Police Officer offense that occurred on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street, Northwest.

At approximately 3:58 pm, uniformed members of the Fourth District responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Kennedy Street, Northwest, for the report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, members located the suspect and attempted to make contact. The suspect brandished a handgun and fired multiple gunshots towards the officers. The suspect then forcibly entered a residence in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street, Northwest. The suspect went to the roof of the residence and refused to come down. MPD Crisis Intervention Officers, along with staff from the Department of Behavioral Health, were in communication with the suspect for several hours in an attempt to deescalate the situation. “DC Police response time”

“Dear PoPville,

Sunday morning I woke up at 630 am and saw that my car–parked off street in my driveway–had been stolen.

I promptly called 911 and notified the dispatcher that my car had been stolen. I gave her the VIN number, make and model of the car and she told me that police were en route to interview me.

I waited over two hours, with additional calls to 911, for the police to show up. (more…)

“He pushed me to the ground so hard I broke my wrist”

A reader replies to yesterday’s post “community warning about dangerous dude in mount pleasant”:

“Dear PoPville,

Oh my god the same thing happened to me on H Street/union station with someone with a similar description (short twist braids, but a bit taller, I’d guess around 5’10”). Sunday around 2:45 pm. Was transferring from the metro to streetcar so exiting the back entrance to union station. He pushed me to the ground so hard I broke my wrist and I’m now in a cast! I called the police and they arrested him. It’s uncanny bc he said something similar to the cops about how I was the one walking aggressively towards him and deserved it. (more…)
