Update from MPD: “The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 3000 block of 14th Street, NW. Two adult males sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The 3000 block of 14th Street is closed. Anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact 202-727-9099.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, October 23, 2022, in the 3000 block of 14th Street, Northwest.
At approximately 6:25 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A short time later, an additional adult male victim was located with a gunshot wound. Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

“On Friday, October 21, at 2pm, the DC Council’s Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety will meet to vote on the Revised Criminal Code Act of 2022 (RCCA), legislation to advance a long overdue modernization, organization, and revision of the District’s entire criminal code. The legislation was introduced at the Council by the District’s independent Criminal Code Reform Commission (CCRC) after years of work by its staff and five-member Advisory Group, including the Office of the Attorney General, the United States Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender Service, and local law school professors. The vote follows more than a year of Council consideration of the proposal and nearly 20 hours of Council public hearings. (more…)
