“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, May 7, 2018, in the 800 block of Oglethorpe Street, Northeast.

At approximately 9:52 pm, two adult male victims, suffering from gunshot wounds, sought treatment at an area hospital. The first victim sustained life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. (more…)

A reader reported around 12:45am shots fired near North Capitol and Seaton Place, NW. “I didn’t hear sirens or anything after (we called the cops, too) so who knows.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 300 block of M Street NW. An adult male has sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower extremities.”



1100 4th Street, SW

From MPD:

“Shortly after 6am this morning your First District members received a call for service and responded to the Safeway located at 1100 4thStreet S.W., for an Assault on a Police Officer. It was determined that a suspect was attempting to steal several items and leave the store without paying for the items.

The Special Police Officer (SPO) working at the Safeway stopped the suspect. The suspect began to fight the SPO. The suspect grabbed the SPO’s service weapon and after a brief struggle, the suspect was shot in the leg. (more…)

“Members of the Fifth District are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, NE.

At approximately 0100 hours, officers were dispatched to the location for the sound of gunshots, and upon arrival located one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in the 1300 block of 2nd Street, Northeast.

At approximately 4:25 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the report of a stabbing at the listed location. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim, unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 16 year-old Tyshon Perry, of Northeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

“There was a shooting on Georgia about an hour or so ago. I’m stuck at heat da spot (Georgia and Lamont St, NW) watching the cops now.”

Update from MPD:

“At approximately 10:20am, members of the Third District were dispatched to the area of the 3200 block of Georgia Avenue NW in reference to the sounds of gunshots. After conducting a thorough canvass, we recovered several shell casings but no victims have been located. Our officers and detectives are working to recover any video footage from the area that may assist with the investigation.

“5D is currently investigating a shooting in the 3600 block of New York Ave., NE.

At approximately 1:57 am, Officers found four adult male victims shot at the location. 5D officers rendered immediate medical care by use of tourniquets.

The four victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 700 block of Gresham Place NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with critical gunshot wounds.

“On Thursday, April 26, 2018, at approximately 3:41 p.m., the victim was driving in the area of 4th and I Street, NW. While attempting to navigate traffic conditions, the victim stopped for a signal light which was beginning to change to red. The vehicle behind her began blowing its horn. When the light changed green, the suspect pulled up alongside the right side of the victim’s vehicle and stated, “I could make your day worse” and pointed a silver handgun at the passenger before speeding away.

The suspect vehicle was described as a silver sedan with Virginia license plates and was last seen exiting the 3rd Street tunnel toward Virginia.

The First District Detective’s Office is actively working this case and asks anyone with information to contact the First District Detective’s Office on 202-299-2025 or the Command Information Center on 202-727-9099.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a person and vehicle of interest in reference to a Destruction of Property offense the occurred on April 12, 2018, in the 3700 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast.

At approximately 3:44 am, members of MPD responded to the listed location for the report of an inoperable traffic camera. Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the traffic camera. Investigators have since determined the damage was due to vandalism. (more…)
