Opening Party
Saturday, February 7, 9 – 11pm
Presented by Transformer and Your Last Neighbor, VIDEYO! is an artistic action/reaction to the intimately lit interior of popular pizza restaurant and after school/work hangout Comet Ping Pong. Confronting the audience with larger than life projected imagery, narrating with frame by frame image alternation, captivating with comedic collages, and hypnotizing with vibrant montages, the participating VIDEYO! artists – Kathryn Cornelius, Victoria F. Gaitán, Bill Kelly, Audrey Lam, Nilay Lawson, Frankie Martin, Baby Martinez, and Luke Wyatt – showcase a variety of video art works that reflect how the creative uses of this medium are as infinite as its technological advancements.
Opening party music provided by DJ Solomon Sanchez. More after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for sending this one from 13th and Q Streets, NW. I’ve seen a number of them on 14th Street as well. Anyone know who put these up? I found the group below on 14th Street near T.

I just noticed the great clothing store, Caramel is hosting a pretty sweet photography exhibit. Sadly, we missed the opening reception but it’s still definitely worth stopping by to check out the photos. Caramel is located at 1603 U Street right across the street from Stetsons and Local 16.
The Space Between
A Selection of Photos by Sherry L. Brukbacher (www.brukbacher.com)
January 23rd – March 15th
The work in this exhibit represents Sherry’s desire to go beyond capturing a moment. She strives to do what photographers she admires have done – to somehow be alive inside the moment – to be at once voyeur and participant transporting the viewer into the space between lens and subject. For more than a decade Sherry has been pursuing photography professionally and as fine art. She studied at Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts and currently works for National Geographic Magazine.

Every time I think I’ve found the last one, I keep finding more (please read in the voice of Al Pacino circa Godfather III). They do stop me dead in my tracks each time though…

The Meridian International Center is located at 1630 Crescent Place, NW just off 16th Street near Meridian Hill Park. If you weren’t looking for it you’d never find it. But you’ll be happy if you do. Currently they have an exhibit titled “Painting the Heart of Russia – The Timkov Collection”. Their Web site says:
“Opened on November 14, 2008, and on display until March 8, 2009, Meridian International Center presents selections from “The Timkov Collection”, provided by Timothy and Lisa Wyman, featuring remarkable landscapes by renowned Russian painter Nikolai Efimovich Timkov (1912-1993). Dr. Alison Hilton, an eminent scholar of Russian art history and Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Georgetown University, will serve as co-curator of the exhibition.
“The greatest Russian Impressionist landscape painter of the second and third quarters of the 20th century.”
Dr. Albert Kostenevich
Impressionist Curator
Hermitage Museum”
Anyone check it out? You can see a preview of the gallery here.

Please accept this wild Obama Poster I found in someone’s window.
