I know you have probably walked by this storefront dozens of times just north of the Reeves Center on 14th Street, but have you ever stopped to look at the posters/pictures? They are phenomenal. Check out my favorite one after the jump. (more…)

I ate lunch outside the Navy Memorial today and spotted this amazing stained glass. You can’t really tell from the photo but it is multi dimensional. Anyway it got me thinking that we should remember the troops even on January 7th and not a proper holiday. Take the politics out of it, we have a lot of good people serving overseas and I think it is important to take a moment every now and then to remember the sacrifices they are making.

This is outside that super nice new school in Columbia Heights on 16th Street.

Have you ever taken a really close look at the U Street metro mural? It is freaky as hell. For many of the drawings they have inserted photos of real human body parts. In this photo you can see some freaky lips. There are also some freaky ears, etc. Check it out next time you are walking through. I don’t dig it.  You?

This past weekend Mid City Artists Open Studios took place mostly around Logan Circle, Dupont Circle and U Street. I took the opportunity to check out some of the local artists on 14th Street and U Street. From the three artists I checked out, there was certainly a wide variety of styles displayed. The art above is from Brian Petro. Petro’s Studio is located at 1829 14th Street, NW and is definitely worth checking out. (more…)

From outside the Carlos Rosario International Charter School at 11th and Harvard.

but I spotted this one on S Street between 14th and 13th. It is made of wood and there is another larger sign, maybe a kind of memorial next to it. But this one obviously spoke to me. It reminds me of the Remaking Le Slum Historique mural on I think 9th Street in Shaw.
