I have a vague recollection that I may have picked this one before but hell if I can barely I’m guessing you guys can’t either… And this is well worth a double posting if that is the case. Simply awesome.

It is “Love” and “Truth” not “Love” and “Ruth” like I originally thought. I only had few seconds to talk with this guy outside the 9:30 club but he mentioned it had something to do with Richard Pryor. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Unfortunately, this woman’s bus came along right after I begged her to let me take this photo so I wasn’t able to ask her any questions about the background of the tattoo. Ed note: It is a hell of a lot harder to get people to let me take photos of their tattoos than I anticipated. So, this tattoo is my favorite one yet. It reminds me a little bit of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. And the sun of course just rocks.

So it occurred to me I’m always looking high and low for cool murals and wham, I realized I walk by cool art all the time. So I thought as it gets warmer I’ll be seeing more and more so why not feature some interesting tattoos? So this is Bob’s arm. He plays in a band called Roxie Heart and the tattoo was inspired by a song he wrote called, you guessed it, “Broken Wings Can’t Fly.” You can catch his band May 11th at Asylum in Adams Morgan. Check out an extremely proud Washingtonian after the jump.

I’ve seen this on a number of lightposts in the city and it stops me in my tracks everytime. I like the one eye open one eye closed look. Anyone know the story behind these?

I think it is a wicked old school fireman. You probably have to be a fireman to put one of those decorations up though, don’t you think?
