I’ve been noticing this a lot around town – you see what looks like will be a balcony but when you get close it is actually just two doors up against a barrier. What’s the deal here? Why not just make a proper balcony? Does this even have any practical function? I guess you could get a nice breeze going if you opened the doors…

Here is a small condo building located on 11th Street a few blocks south of U Street. What do you think of the windows that form a “T”? I’m also wondering if you think it fits within a “regular” row of homes?
It’s a bit blocked by the security bars but I think you can get a taste of the sweetness.
And should a fire break out while you’re enjoying that cup you can easily escape…
