Continuing with Brookland week…
They’ve taken the southwestern flavor pretty seriously!

Here is another cool example from Brookland (Kearny Street, NE). I took a few shots but it was somewhat obscured by a tree. It certainly is a very different style from the other homes I saw in that area. The windows are wild. What do you think – thumbs up or down?

A few more photos after the jump (including a surprise for ‘not telling’). (more…)

Florida Ave and 4th Street, NW
This great shot is from M.V. Jantzen and is titled, “Crumbling Yet Fabulous”. Jantzen says, “A beautiful brick building at the corner of Florida Ave & 4th St NW, sadly vacant.”
I also admire this building every time I pass it.

I thought this, in Mt. P, was one of the greatest screened in porches that I’ve ever seen. Given the fact that the mosquitos are going to descend upon us in about a month I thought this was worth admiring. Check out the sweet double skylights:

Anyone know what something like this would cost?

From my first journey in Brookland. Check out the sweet cedar shingles on the dormer up top.

Perhaps it won’t be as stark with some landscaping but the new Kogod School of Business building at AU, is well, a bit imposing.

Personally I think the Katzen Arts building is way cooler.
What do you think – thumbs up or down?

A Mount P Classic.

These new homes are being built on 4th and T Streets, NE. I think I prefer the glass ones we looked at earlier. Anyone dig this style? It almost looks like a pop up built on new construction…

Another sweet find from my Eckington walkabout. Sorry for the umbrella but there was a wicked glare without it. Sweet house though, yeah?

There’s lots to like about this house. It has a lot of great details. I particularly like the row of windows on the third floor.
