Mad props to my friend Dave for sending me this photo. Back when I toured the Brookland area I heard about this mythical “circle” house. We walked up and down dozens of blocks looking for it. I was convinced it didn’t exist. But then I got the greatest simple text of a photo saying – 10th and Irving NE. Awesome!

I really enjoy watching the progress of homes that are being built from the ground up. This one is located at 2121 11th Street, NW and seems very promising. It looks like it’s going to have a nice third floor balcony:

Can you tell at this point if you like the style. I’ll be sure to update as it progresses.

Here’s another cool Bloomingdale rowhouse. I like the detailed trim.

This building by the reservoir (near Howard University) really struck my eye this past weekend. I assume it is some pumping station, right? Why is there the tower type structure – is that for function or style?

After the jump more photos and a re-PoP of one of the greatest road signs ever. (more…)

16th and I Street, NW

Welcome new PoP contributor, Kashuo Bennett. He could not have arrived at a better time. I’ve been wondering for a while what you folks thought about this building and whether or not it should be demolished. Though I don’t necessarily agree with Kash, I’m glad to hear his perspective. Kash will be contributing a variety of posts about DC’s unique architecture.

I totally dig the faded wood siding. Makes me think of a beach house.

I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo but the bricks look really interesting on this one. I haven’t similar ones around town. And of course it has a sweet vestibule:

These houses continue to knock my socks off. They are located on 17th Street in Mt. P overlooking Rock Creek Park.

Well, it’s Crestwood week here at PoP. I really like the entrance to this one.
