I’m really just a sucker for banana plants. I’ve had a mini one for three years and it’s yet to produce a banana. How long does it take before they start producing fruit?

I thought this was a cool little corner house near H Street, NE.

We’ve judged the Moderno located at 12th just south of U St, NW. We’ve even discussed what they mean by European style residences. I swear I’m not picking on them, I actually think the building looks pretty cool, but what’s up with their Remy Martin ads on the first floor? Are they just waiting to get retail in? I actually thought the first floor was just the lobby. If you lived in the building would you be upset at having a huge ad like this on your building?

I think I selected this house for door of the day once. The whole house is pretty sweet though. It’s located just off 18th Street on Florida (or is it U at that point…).

The Park Place apartments located at the intersection of New Hampshire and Georgia, above the Petworth Metro, will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wed. with Mayor Fenty, CM Bowser and CM Graham at 3:30 pm. There will be a reception following from 4:30-6:30. You can enter through the main entrance on Quincy. Some units will be available to tour. I’ll take photos and post the monthly rent when I get the info sheet. I’ll also be updating with more retail options as they become available.

Fence is down on the units in the back as well:

We’ve looked at a different house on this block, 4100 Arkansas Ave, before. It is truly a phenomenal block. I was struck by this one because I remember it was for sale back in the day and it looked like it needed a lot of work. It’s looking good now. The room with all the windows is surely a great spot for a morning cup of coffee.

A reader sent me to this block to check out a GDoN nearby so stay tuned for that one.

I finally saw the Yale Lofts located at 4th and New York Ave, NW. It is a huge building.

Anyone check out the units inside? what do you think of the building itself?

And here’s an update on the new building going up at Rhode Island Ave between 5th and New Jersey, NW.

And after the jump is one of my favorite buildings that we’ve seen before from Ledroit Park. (more…)

While it’s a little bit obscured by the tree I think you can get the flavor of it. Amazing brickwork and cool window.

Typing at a computer all day and night, my neck is killing me. Last weekend I walked past Lunar Massage at 1101 5th Street, NW. They say 20 minutes for $26. Is that a good deal?

And here’s the carriage house folks have been mentioning when talking about the “pink house” at the corner of 4th (or is it 5th?) and M Streets, NW.  Absolutely awesome!
