Wow, the River Park coop is wild. And huge. From their Web site:

River Park (1301 Delaware Ave. SW) itself is composed of a set of townhouses and high-rise buildings in a park-like setting. River Park structures feature a unique modernistic design created by the award-winning architect, Charles M. Goodman. Its 1200-plus residents form a dynamic community that makes River Park a great place to live. River Park is a main feature on the District of Columbia’s Southwest Heritage Trail.

Judging Buildings – Arena Stage

I know we’ve talked about Arena Stage before but I finally got to see it in person. Holy freaking cow – it is truly amazing. I promise you these pictures don’t even come close to doing it justice – so I hope it encourages some folks to head on down to take a look (or see a show). I’m still marveling it at a full two days after taking these shots. Arena stage is located at 1101 6th St, SW.

DCPL: “Wall Street Journal Names New Shaw Library One of the Best Buildings in 2010”

In an article praising the innovative civic buildings opened in 2010, The Wall Street Journal named the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library as one of the year’s best.

The article listed the library along with the MIT Media Lab and Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Journal noted that the library’s architecture is part of national trend that, “says much about the priorities and the programs going on inside libraries, where media-related services, community meeting spaces and teen rooms are becoming the norm as the former safe havens for books and bookworms turn themselves into interactive civic centers.”

Designed by the architect firm of Davis Brody Bond Aedas, the new Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library is approximately 22,000 square feet and features space for 80,000 books, DVDs, CDs and other library materials; 32 public access computers with free Wi-Fi Internet access; comfortable seating for 200 customers; a large programming room for up to 100 people; two conference rooms; and a vending area.

After our talk yesterday about gyms in Petworth a reader asked if I could post what the building across from Qualia Coffee looks like now. (Another readers asks if I know how much rent will be, I do not but promise to update when the rental units go on the market.) So, how do you think it turned out?
