I’ve been highlighting some cool new buildings lately but there are many cool old buildings out there as well. Check out this wall of windows. Super cool. I like how the windows are all staggered and you have different sizes with a circular one all the way up at the top. Good stuff.

This is the new ATF building, I think, over in North East. I think it’s the ATF building but it’s for sure a federal building. Anyway, when I was over at Artomatic I got to see the roof of the security barrier which is filled with green. So I understand the benefit of green roofs on buildings but what’s the benefit on a smaller structure like the security barrier? Is it more than aesthetic?

This one also has a nice spiral staircase which looks like it leads to a nice deck area. Could probably use some plants – I bet you could grow some great tomato plants up there with all that sun exposure. I also like the nice glass enclosed space on the first floor. Surely a great morning cup of coffee spot for the colder months.

A good wood door but I like the stained glass and the nice knocker even more. It is also fun to write nice knocker.

This is an unusual house but I mostly like how it is nestled between two apartment buildings. It makes me wonder if the whole block was once filled with similar houses.

I never realized Chi-Cha Lounge was in an old Firehouse until I crossed the street and caught the whole building. Anyone know what the top floors are used for? Office space? There is also a super cool sculpture underneath a window with the date, presumably when it was built, 1893 on either side of the window. Close up of the sculpture and date after the jump. (more…)

The back to this house if pretty fresh. It’s got the spiral staircase up to a roof deck with good looking plants. It’s also got a nice balcony and a number of those square glass blocks bordering the windows. Ok, I still don’t exactly understand those square glass blocks but those are some very nice options for a morning cup of coffee.

Despite my 97% accuracy rate, scuttlebutt is exactly that. I can not guarantee the following is 100% truth. It is merely rumor, however, history has shown there is a strong possibility that the rumors will turn out to be true.

Rumor number one: The Temperance Hall building is on the market. That means the whole building that houses Looking Glass Lounge and Yoga House is for sale not the individual businesses. Those two business have secured multi-year leases so they will not be affected should the building sell. However, it will be interesting to see if there are any longer term implications when their leases run out in a number of years. I believe the building is going for $1.3 or $1.8 million. What do you think are the implications if a sale goes through for the long term?

Rumor number two: Colorado Kitchen is currently in negotiations on renewing their lease. Rumor has it the negotiations are not going that well. There could be a move by the end of the year if a deal is not reached. Has anyone up in North Country heard this rumor?
