China just arrived in DC this past weekend and she is ready to take the city on! This country bumpkin from South Carolina has transitioned to city life beautifully, and she’s winning hearts everywhere she goes! Naturally affable, China was the trainer’s favorite pup in the overcrowded shelter from which she was rescued. Smart, treat motivated, and eager to please, it’s no wonder she’s a dog trainer’s dream! China LOVES other dogs, as well as people and even cats! She is great with gentle children, too! She’s currently being fostered with two cats and is very respectful. At about 2 years old and 50 lbs., China has the energy to be a great running or hiking buddy, but she just as easily transitions into a cuddly, couch potato at home. With her adorable “bully” looks, she is a wonderful ambassador for bully breeds (though her breed mix is anyone’s guess… perhaps Boxer as well?). She does well in an apartment and as a very social dog, enjoys the dog park and walks in areas where she can meet lots of people and other dogs. It’s hard to imagine how this girl ended up as a stray in rural South Carolina, but she is thanking her lucky stars she has been rescued and is ready to put her past behind her to build a new life in the big city. Can that be with you? If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate, easy-going dog, China is your girl! You can learn more about China and the adoption process through DC PAWS Rescue here.

6-year-old tripod Dani is a truly special cat, with an adventurous past! Originally found in Kosovo and brought to the U.S. (by way of Macedonia!) for medical treatment and adoption, as a three-legged kitten, Dani was adopted and spent 6 years as part of a loving family. Family circumstances have now changed, and Dani is back with his old friends at King Street Cats, but would really like to find a furever home where he can share all the love he has to give. Dani is an affectionate and loving boy with a mellow purr-sonality. His friends at KSC are helping him to safely lose weight – he’s a bit “generous” so needs to slim down slowly to help reduce the pressure on his three paws! Dani will make someone’s home very happy – could it be yours? Find out more about this globe-trotting gentleman here.

***Special Note – We featured fellow KSC kitty Snow back in July (when it was hot, remember?). As a younger cat, Snow sometimes has a tough time being confined to the adoption room, and will really thrive with a family of his own. It would be great for him to find his furever home soon! Find out more about this youngster here.

Got cats? Then your home is the perfect recipe for Teriyaki! This fun and friendly cat adores playing with other cats. You’ll typically find her and the other young cats in her foster home running through the house chasing each other, or she’ll be resting with the eldest cat and exchanging licks. She loves toys; among her favorites are a Cat Charmer ribbon toy, a catnip filled dynamite stick, and of course boxes and balled up paper are also good entertainment for her. Teriyaki likes to sit by you on the couch and nap while you’re reading or watching TV and her favorite place to sleep is curled up at night by your legs. She has great fun with scratching posts and cat trees and will even play in tandem with another cat at the Turbo Scratcher. Add a little more flavor to your household and apply today to adopt Teriyaki! For more information please visit here.

Looking for a long-eared goofball? Homer is the one for you. He’s a handsome boy who loves a good scent and a good meal. This gentle giant seems to think he’s smaller than he is: at 66 lbs, he’d still love to crawl right up into your lap. Homer has a sweet, calm, and serious demeanor, but he also is playful and likes to toss his head and put on a real show for you. It’s quite a sight! His beautiful hound dog eyes and ears get him lots of attention while out on walks. Homer is very friendly, a good leash-walker, and enjoys meeting dogs on walks. He does have some anxiety and likes routines–always knowing when it’s time to walk, eat, and nap. He sure loves to have lots of sniffs when he’s out and about. At home, he gets super excited for dinner and leaps around and barks–especially if any of his favorites are on the menu–such as peanut butter, cheese, and green beans! Homer is looking for a forever family that will adore him as much as he will adore them! (It is hard not to love this adorable, happy pooch)! Will you give Homer a home?
