“This is Paul – named after one of his humans’ favorite Man U players Paul Pogba – of Woodley Park. He enjoys watching futbol with his humans on the weekends, but otherwise spends most of his time sleeping on the couch.”

Meet gorgeous Layla! This senior lady has been through some tough times, but she’s a survivor AND a lover! Layla’s prior owners had her declawed on all 4 claws, which caused her a lot of pain, but now that she’s on medication, she’s so much happier! Layla is a true lap cat – she loves to be around her people and is a purring machine when petted! Though Layla is about 12 years, old, she is also very active and loves to play. Other areas of interest include catnip and lots of salmon! Layla is just a cuddlebug looking for someone to return her love and affection. Could you be the one? Find out more about this beautiful lady, available through Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, here.

It’s almost Sophia’s birthday, and what she really wants is a forever home! This lovely hound mix is about to be 9 – old enough to know better, young enough to still have fun! Sophia is warm and loving, and gently shares affection with her people. She is good with children and some other dogs, but would be OK as a one-and-only diva as well. Sophia weighs just above 50 lbs. and has the energy to enjoy a yard to run in and adventures to go on! This pretty lady is all ears (geddit?) waiting to hear if she’s going to find her forever home soon! Find out more about Sophia here or email her foster at [email protected]

“15 week old Luna of NoMa claiming her spot in the middle of the bed”

“Sweetheart community cat who greets us by hopping on our cars when we pull up on parking pad in Brightwood Park. Name? Depends whom you ask. My downstairs neighbor calls him Spaceghost. I call him Mr. Milkyway. He answers to both (probably to a few others as well). We feed him a bit and see to his medical care when necessary, but he seems to be perfectly content living outdoors.”

Meet handsome and gentle super senior, Beto! This distinguished gent was found as a stray, and once his rescuer brought him inside, she realized what a wonderful and friendly guy he is! Beto is very sociable and loving, and loves to chat with his humans and provide up close and personal purring services – he even smiles, see? Because he was found outside we are guessing his age to be about 9 or 10 years old. After weathering life outside, Beto had some dental issues and was too thin, but he’s now gaining weight and feeling much better! He is incredibly social and loves his humans, and has not exhibited fear of dogs when at the vet, but is not interested in or friendly with other cats. Beto loves canned food, and will do best in an affectionate home where he can share all the love he has to give now that he’s safe! To find out more about adopting Beto, email [email protected]

Freddie is a pup who was also rescued from outdoor life; in his case, a veterinary employee in South Carolina noticed him chained to a pole and convinced his owners to let him come live inside! Freddie’s amazing fosters are helping him to gain weight and confidence as he heals from neglect and mistreatment. But luckily, Freddie is resilient! He’s a snuggle bug who loves to sit on laps and sleep in bed with you if allowed (but his crate’s cool too). Freddie is estimated to be about 2-3 years old, and is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, who will weigh about 60-65 lbs. once fully healthy. His foster mom notes that he LOVES to go for walks, and doesn’t mind cold or rain (welcome to DC, Freddie!). He’s good with cats, but as Freddie lived alone for too long, he still needs to build pup-to-pup social skills, so will be best as an only dog for now. But Freddie’s a smart guy who learns fast. He is a true lovebug who will make someone a fantastic companion! Find out more about adopting Fabulous Freddie here.
