White, Grey, or another color?

First off, thanks to all for your kind words. Well, there are a lot of exciting happenings coming around the corner. I have finally identified a Digital Camera to purchase. Secondly, thanks to Emily for helping me with the P.o.P. t-shirts which I should get my first look at tomorrow. And finally I am happy to announce that P.o.P. will be moving to www.princeofpetworth.com in mid September with a new sleek look and features. To celebrate this occasion I will be having a launch in mid September at Temperance Hall to celebrate and of course you are all invited. Stay tuned for more details.
The ice cubes are clinking
While I’m still thinking
About what went wrong
Now I don’t ask a lot from you guys but this is something that I think would be really cool. If any of you have had your homes renovated I’d love to post some pictures of your renovations. Do you have a new kitchen you are really proud of? A new bathroom? Are you lucky enough to have a new solarium? Send me a picture at [email protected]. I really appreciate it.
I still haven’t heard back from Robin about discussing a Farmer’s Market in Petworth but hopefully will soon so stay tuned.
I’m looking to get the t-shirts made in August/September and then have a P.o.P. Happy Hour at Temperance Hall to distribute them so stay tuned for that.
Lots of great changes are on the rise here at PoP. I’m currently in talks with a web developer to really spruce up the site. And I’m making T-Shirts. But these T-shirts won’t be for sale. They will be free to our loyal readers. I’m going to hook up my favorite and most active commentors. So if you have any ideas for what you’d like to see on the t-shirt let me know now plus let me know if there are any new features you’d like to see on the site. And I’m going to get a new camera so my photos can actually be identifiable. So that is why I have added advertisements to the site. I want to supplement the out of pocket costs for these new developments. So support the sponsors by clicking on an ad! If you find the ads really obnoxious let me know that as well. I really do appreciate any feedback you may have on how you’d like to see the site develop.
It pains me to do this but some people are just jerks. So here goes, a few guidelines adopted from DCist, I’m reluctant to say rules:
* Good comments can disagree with the content in the post, but they never insult other commenters.
* Good comments are usually pretty short and are open to being contradicted by other readers.
* Good comments are always on topic, and never contain spam or spam-like content.
So in sum, don’t insult and curse at specific people. Don’t write a thesis in the comments section, especially about something totally random. Don’t steal. Honor thy mother and father etc. etc.
I will delete comments that regularly violate the guidelines. So don’t get all sore if you write “Jim is an asshole” and I delete your entire comment. You can however write “muggers are assholes.” We cool?
To those concerned that I may have ulterior motives I wish to reassure you that I am doing these interviews on my own free time and as of yet I do not support any candidate. I simply saw an opportunity to help Petworth learn about the potential candidates. I have remained anonymous because I have not decided where I am taking this blog. I have however, recorded all the interviews so that if you have more questions please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns. Many thanks.
P.O.P.
As such, I will be interviewing all candidates running for City Council in the special election to replace Mayor Fenty. I will not post a word for word transcription but I will post my overall impressions and particularly impressive responses or fresh ideas. (Ed note: I was a reporter for two years covering the Pentagon and US national security issues.) I am not out to embarrass anyone. I simply will give my own personal impressions for you to do with what you wish. At the end of all my interviews I will endorse a candidate who I hope will be the best bet for representing Petworth and all of Ward 4 during these critical years. Pl ease consider this another resource for Petworth residents, no more no less.
I am happy to announce that the first potential candidate to be interviewed will be Mr. Tony Towns. Please email me at [email protected] if you or your candidate would like to be interviewed as well.
These special elections are known to have a low voter turnout and generally generate less interest from the mainstream press. This is understandable but as conscientious Petworth residents and voters it is our duty to educate ourselves and vote for whichever candidate we think is best for Petworth.
Prince of Petworth captures the absurdity of life in Petworth and life in general.
A bit about me, I’ve lived in DC for almost 10 years, I love Washington and I love Petworth yet I am often baffled by some of the behaviors I witness and the absurdity all around us. Of course absurdity can be both beautiful and horrible, I will try and capture both.
