Lots of folks have been writing me about getting a community clean up started. I think it’s a great idea. So I thought I’d gauge interest. Do we want this to be a one time thing? A monthly thing? The second Saturday of every month? Just Petworth or are folks in Columbia Heights, U Street, and/or Mt. Pleasant interested as well? Let me know what you think and we’ll take it from there.

Well, I’m going to try again. PoP is looking for an intern! Yes, I tried this once before and I actually got an intern…which lasted for, I think, one day. I still wrote her a great letter of recommendation. Anyway, you don’t have to be called an intern, you can have any title you’d like. But this what I’m looking for – someone who lives in Petworth, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, Shaw, Logan, U Street…or you know the neighborhoods I cover. Specific tasks will include- interviews, research, and any cool ideas you may have. The time commitment would be 8 hrs a week or more if you wanted to. At the moment this will be an unpaid internship but you’d get a sweet t-shirt and a lot of flexibility to do some interesting research, writing and photography. I would like to find a local charity to donate some money. Does anyone have any suggestions for local charities in the Petworth/Columbia Heights/Shaw/U St./Mt.Pleasant neighborhoods? When a number of suggestions have been submitted we will then vote on which one to donate to. Now here’s where you come in: I would like you to donate to the charity as well and I will match donations up to a total of $500. Hopefully that way, together we can donate a $1000 to a local charity. So which local charity would you like to nominate?
