A lot of folks were interested in knowing when the next Patio Craft Sale would be. Well, it’s Saturday from 10-3 at 1801 Calvert St NW. Enjoy.

No fancy marketing here. No insane graphics or ridiculous logo. I like it. Although, it is much more fun spotting ridiculous logos, graphics and/or tag lines…
There was a little confusion last week as to whether Pete’s was having a happy hour or not. One of the owners, Mike Wilkinson, has cleared up the confusion in the following note:
“After a little bit of back and forth, Pete’s has decided to offer an “unadvertised special,” referenced a couple weeks ago on PoP, but not actually implemented in-store. My fault — I made the announcement prematurely to PoP, not realizing that the management team was still mulling it over.
Come on in between 4 and 6PM, through the month of July, for a pint of Peroni or Blue Moon and a slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza, for $5 plus tax. As the seasons change, we may mix it up. For now, we’re offering cold, wet summer brews on special. (We also have Anchor Steam and Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA on tap, and Magic Hat #9, Miller Light, Wolaver’s, Sam Adams Light, Woodchuck Amber Cider in the bottle, subject to availability).
You have to ask to get the special pricing. Consider it our little PoP secret, but don’t hesitate to tell your pals or come in with a big group to take advantage of it…
Sorry for the confusion over the past week or so.
We welcome your comments and feedback: [email protected]

I’ve never realized just how many shops have sprouted up on U Street. But Habitat Live & Wear located at 1510 U Street has actually been around for 8 years. The shop is run by Gustavo Dinucci. As you can see from the photos it features jewelry, handbags, and home accessories. Although walking around the store it seemed to display mostly jewelery and handbags. The jewelry runs from $40-$500 and averages around $80. The handbags average around $100. Looks like another great spot to pick up gifts. (more…)

The great chicken place Chix located at 2019 11th Street, NW is also applying for outdoor seating. It has an awesome space that is definitely going to enhance the atmosphere of 11th Street. The hearing will be the second week of July so we may have to wait until August before we get to enjoy it but it is still great news. If you haven’t checked it out yet you should definitely stop by. They now have a new lunch special which sounds pretty good. From 11:30 – 4pm M-F you can get 1/4 chicken 1 side (noodles&cheese, side salad, or sweet potatoes) and 1 soda/bottled water for $7.49. Or you can get 1/4 chicken 1 side (noodles&cheeseor sweet potatoes), 1 small green salad and 1 soda/bottled water for $7.99.

Well I saw a number of them this weekend that still had these signs and are apparently broken. Are we going to have to wait for the next fire before we become outraged or is the city going to fix these anytime soon? Let our memories not be too short…

So what do readers think about breakfast nooks? I rather like them and this one looks particularly nice—I love the cabinets above the counter. But despite the aesthetic appeal they can really close up a kitchen, which can make the socializing while cooking difficult. How do others feel?
$2,650 for a two bedroom, two bath “boutique” condo on 14th and Harvard, right near Meridian Hill Park (which, as PoP pointed out http://www.princeofpetworth
I find it interesting that the exterior shot is taken at night. I’ve rarely seen that done before. Maybe they did that to bring notice to what looks like a lighted sign above the entrance? More rentals after the jump. (more…)
Thanks to Lisa for attending a meeting on the 15th St reconfiguration proposals. Lisa reports:
15th St NW – Make it a 2-way Street?
“Last night there was a presentation by DDOT about what to do with 15th St between Mass Ave and W St/Florida Ave/New Hampshire Ave intersection. Currently, it is a one-way, four-lane northbound street with timed lights, so cars and cabs can barrel down it without stopping, pretty much as fast as they want. Because of this – it is rare to see pedestrians on the sidewalks and bikers on the street. DDOT proposed several alternative plans for the street (see complete detail at http://www.ddot.dc.gov/ddot
Long story short, there is rarely traffic and congestion on 15th St like you see on 16th and 14th streets. Maybe the road is being under-used. However, apparently there are about the same number of crashes on 15th as there are on 16th and 14th streets. So, what to do? DDOT is going to consider public comments and decide the fate of 15th St. If the timed lights change and bike lanes are added, I bet cab drivers won’t be too psyched, but the bikers will be pleased…”
So which proposal do you like best? Should they just leave it the way it is? Keep it one way but add bike lanes? Or make it two way?

I guess they must be diehard Express fans.
Ed. Note: There is a chance I may have taken a photo of this sign before but I couldn’t find it on the site. So I consulted with a friend who said if I can’t remember it most people won’t remember it either. But I do apologize if I already posted this one. I swear I’ll quit sniffing glue on Monday.

I don’t support the marking of territory with shoes. But I have to give credit where credit is due, this has got to be a one in a hundred shot.
