This one isn’t for drainage. Did kind of remind of this cloud though:

I haven’t figured out what it means yet but I support a “friendly society”. Ed. note: I think it is a remnant from Temperance Hall…
Well not our town but still got to appreciate this “bike locking station”. check it out here.

I’m digging the colors.

It’s just a granite cylinder in the middle of the lawn. A friend wondered whether it was a grave marker. Do you think it’s just “art”?

I really like the window on the third floor on the right hand side. Haven’t seen one like that before.

Can’t believe I haven’t asked about this one before. So what do you guys think about Felix in Adams Morgan? Actually in addition to the architecture what about the place itself? Any fans out there?

Haven’t received too many entries yet, so get on your horses and email them to [email protected]. You just need a photo and a couple of sentences.
“This is my roommate Chris. We live in Shaw, and we’ve been housemates for almost three years but we’ve known each other for almost eight. He is one of the most knowledgable and funny people I’ve ever met. He seriously deserves an award for putting up with me (and my fiancee, who moved in with us last year without a word of protest from Chris). He patiently puts up with the two of us, who happen to be on the messy side, and never (okay, fine, hardly ever) complains. He bought a Wii for the household and lets us play Wii tennis for hours. He keeps a bucket of candy in his room and doesn’t mind sharing. He takes turns with dog walking/feeding and is our dogs’ favorite uncle. He is such a good roommate that my fiancee and I are hoping to buy a house with a basement apartment rental for Chris, so we can keep our “family” intact even after the wedding. He is like living with live entertainment- I seriously get an ab workout from laughing when we hang out.” Photo that I suspect may end this wonderful friendship after the jump. (more…)

Actually a number of people have written me about this house so I thought I’d give it a go. One reader writes:
“I wanted to suggest a newly listed house in Petworth as a candidate for “Good Deal or Not?” I’m not the seller, nor do I have any affiliation with the people who renovated house. My interest is that it’s near my house, and it’s an unprecedented price point for this area of Petworth (i.e., North Country). The address is 5101 Illinois Ave., NW (20011). It’s a 5 bedroom / 4.5 bath house on a corner lot. The house went on the market Aug. 10, and they’re asking $795,000. That’s an unheard of amount for just about anywhere in Petworth, but particularly for a house not near the metro. I’m curious what others who read the blog think. Here’s a link with information and photos of the house.”

It is a pretty huge house but that seems really high for that neck of the woods. I’m guessing nobody is going to say it is a good deal (but maybe I’m wrong). If you don’t think it’s a good deal what do you think would be a reasonable asking price for this property?
