The flier for this home located at 733 Park Road, NW says:

The kit & BA have been renov, while the rest of the house still maintains its beautiful, original condition. The house features a 1 car garage, h/d floors, 3 porches, original wood work and a sizable bsmt. Mins from Petworth Metro, Target, Giant, Best Buy and dining.”

As they say in the business, this one looks like it has good bones. Does $410,000 seem reasonable?

Has anyone checked out Commissary located at 1443 P St NW? Their Web site says:

“After considerable deliberations, we’ve decided to close Merkado Kitchen (1443 P St NW DC) and re-concept. This is not a decision we come to lightly. We believe the Merkado concept has never realized its full potential given its amazing location. We have tweaked, changed and adjusted the concept many times over the past 3 years and still, we just aren’t as busy as we believe we can be. Our sister concept, Logan Tavern, is wildly successful, yet Merkado is now and has always been only mildly successful.”

So is it better than Merkado?

Oops, forgot to post last Friday.

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll, normally, open this thread every Friday. So anything good happen to you this week(end)?

Ed. note: The fox pictured above is just some random fox I found on flickr not the fox cited in the below Dear PoP letter.

“So…on Tuesday afternoon around 2:00 I was walking north on 16th street, and around Q or R there was someone dressed in a fox costume. Or a wolf costume. I couldn’t tell which. Red like a fox, but up close, kind of a wolf face. Anyway, I’m splitting hairs. I’m just wondering if anyone knows what this animal was doing? He/she/it hid behind a newspaper box as I was walking toward it, and then jumped out at me, followed me for a bit, and then turned around and on to the next unassuming pedestrian. But there were no signs, no “handlers”, no obvious associations or reasons why this fox/wolf was on the prowl. Any idea?”

This is news to me. He’s lucky he doesn’t get beat down jumping out at people like that… Anyone know about or experience the same thing?

7 Eleven jumping on the Obama band wagon to sell cups of coffee? Is it just me or is that insane? I suppose it’s possible they have McCain coffee cups as well but c’mon. This seems a little over the top. But I guess if it helps sell coffee… Well, what do you think, is this ridiculous or simply good marketing?

Goes to this guy who tagged the Shepard Fairey Piece on 13th Street days after it went up. Nice job jackass.

I was just thinking how many bike lanes have recently popped up and then I received this press release:

District/DDOT Reach Cycling Milestones:

40 Miles of Bike Lanes & 1,000 Bike Racks

New Lanes Boost DC’s Overall Bike Network

(Washington, D.C.) Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Department of Transportation (DDOT) Bicycle Program Manager Jim Sebastian and Department of the Environment (DDOE) Director George Hawkins today announced that the District is on track to complete 40 miles of bike lanes in the District. In all, 8 miles of bike lanes will have been installed in 2008, more than any single year to date. This accomplishment keeps the District on track to meet one of the goals of the DC Bicycle Master Plan: to install 60 miles of bike lanes in 10 years.  Press release continues after the jump.
