This building by the reservoir (near Howard University) really struck my eye this past weekend. I assume it is some pumping station, right? Why is there the tower type structure – is that for function or style?
After the jump more photos and a re-PoP of one of the greatest road signs ever. (more…)

If there are any soccer fans out there, you can catch this book signing tonight at the Pug located at 1234 H St, NE.
I found this photo by Tyrannous mesmerizing. It is of course titled “Problems”.

This home is located at 1826 15th Street, NW:
The flier says:

More info and photos found here.
I don’t know what it is about odd number streets but I’m a huge fan of 15th, 13th and 11th. Do you dig the kitchen? This house can be yours for $1,150,000. I’ll just add there is also a house very close by at 1834 15th St..
It’s a bit smaller but has some incredible photos. 1834 15th is going for $949,000. Which do you think is a better deal?

Rumba Cafe is located at 2443 18th Street., NW in Adams Morgan. I know this is a popular spot to listen to live Latin music but recently I’ve noticed lots of folks eating at the outdoor cafe in front. Here’s a list of main courses from their menu. Any fans of the restaurant? The bar? The music? What’s the best part of this spot?

16th and I Street, NW
Welcome new PoP contributor, Kashuo Bennett. He could not have arrived at a better time. I’ve been wondering for a while what you folks thought about this building and whether or not it should be demolished. Though I don’t necessarily agree with Kash, I’m glad to hear his perspective. Kash will be contributing a variety of posts about DC’s unique architecture.

Back in April we learned of the possibility that Chipotle may be coming to 3113 14th Street in Columbia Heights. Well, I’m happy to report that I got official confirmation this evening from the developers (Donatelli Development) that Chipotle has signed the lease. You’ll see the “coming soon” sign in this space tomorrow. There is expected to be a build out of 3-4 months before they open. One slight change from the last speculation – this spot will not be serving wine or beer. It turns out, in DC, Chipotle will no longer seek liquor licenses for new franchises. I’m still a devotee of Taco Bell but I’m definitely psyched to have this option. The Chipotle fills out the Kenyon Square retail space. In addition they have The Heights, a drycleaner, a spa, a wine store, and a bank. Do you like this variety?

I’m not sure if this is just a funny picture or a proper caption contest. But I’m thinking you guys may have some captions here. Your caption in the comments – winner announced Friday.

So it was a little later than April… From a press release:
“On Sunday, June 14th, owners Fernando Acha and designer Mick Mier will unveil Mid City Caff
