I like how this photo mirrors the joy from the sculpture below. Thanks to a reader for sending:
“While not many photo ops in Kabul due to security constraints, here is one taken from the Cabul Coffee House in the heart of downtown Kabul, Afghanistan.”

This is from the 1313 L Street, NW outside of the National Association for the Education of Young Children Building.

This great door is just a few doors down from today’s HoTD (below). I kinda like how the door is of center with the entryway.

This is a beautiful renovation that is nearly completed. Someone help me out, where’d I take this photo. I know it’s around the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. Beautiful.

Next to today’s “judging buildings” at 455 Mass Ave., NW is a big sign for Buddha Bar. The Triangle blog has a bit more info. Looks like it could be pretty cool. Anyone else familiar with this spot? Apparently they have a spot in NYC, anyone ever been?

And while it has looked ready to open for a while, I’m beginning to suspect the dry cleaner to open at Florida and 13th Street, NW, may never open…

I thought I had put up a different sign from this same spot a while back but I can’t seem to find it. So it turns out this spot has a Web site:
“Louis’ Rogue has one of the largest main stages in Washington, DC. The finest Washington has to offer, we have two main stages and personal stage dances, along with pool tables, video games and 42″ plasma TVs with Direct TV satellite. Located just four blocks from the DC Convention Center, Gallery Place Metro and MCI Arena, we offer alcohol, beer, snacks, food, drinks and dancing.”
It’s located at 476 K Street NW.

“3000 block of 14th St. NW is closed Northbound & Southbound and 14th & Irving St. NW is blocked. Columbia Heights Metro Station(Green Line) is closed on the South side”
Another reader tells me it was a shooting.

Wow, I’m glad I stumbled into the Mt. Vernon Triangle/Square (which is it Triangle or Square) neighborhood. It has really changed a lot since I last was there. This awesome building is located at the corner of 4th and Mass Ave, NW. Do you like the style?
Of note, and I remembering reading about this back in the day, is the little building formerly housing Ledo Pizza that was not torn down:

Interestingly, there is also a new(ish) building across the street that has an old firehouse that was not torn down:

More photos of the featured building after the jump. (more…)
