I had really been looking forward to checking out the 9th and U St. Flea Market…little did I know. The photo above almost cost me a serious ass kicking. I’m kind of like Vinny Testaverde, one more ass kicking and it will do me some serious permanent damage. So even though that is not the greatest picture you have to appreciate it just a little bit given the circumstances. You see when I tried to take the above picture the proprietor of the stand beneath it pretty much freaked out. And her very large friend advised me not to take any photos. After some serious pleading – alright fine – crying, I promised only to capture the sign and not any of her merchandise for sale. So please ignore the jackets in the picture for my own safety. Please. (more…)

So walking to the metro tonight I was stopped by a gentleman. He approaches me and says, “I Know I’m black but I’m not homeless.” Ha, ha perpetuating negative stereotypes, always very funny. So he asks me if I’ve heard of Americorps. I told him indeed I had. Well, he goes on to explain that he is from Baltimore but his bus broke down and he needed money to get home. My answer: I’m sorry I only carry traveler’s checks.

So what’s your favorite scam?

Thanks to Steve for putting this comprehensive list together. Based on the great discussion we had earlier he thought it may be a good idea to contact the Mayor and/or your Council Member.

We looked at the outside of these homes last week. I had the opportunity to check out the inside of a few this Sunday. And I can tell you that they were dope sky. So there are two units per row house. The one unit I saw, had a nice open kitchen (pictured above). But what impressed me most was that there were skylights all over the place. Super cool feature. This unit was two levels with the kitchen, living/dining room and a half bath on the first floor. On the second floor there were two bedrooms, one den and two full bathrooms. Pictures and more info from the developer to follow after the jump. (For the record, I have no stake in this property.) So what do you think now that you’ve seen the inside? (more…)

Alright, tell me if I’m crazy. So the single can ban has been in effect a few months now. I’m wondering if we’ll see more empty cans or less. To date I haven’t seen much difference but I think we may see even more litter as a result. Here is my reasoning, if people can’t by 40 ouncers then they’ll by cheap 12 oz can six packs, right? So that’s six cans vs. two bottles, roughly. That makes sense, no? So have you guys noticed any positive or negative effects as a result of the single can/bottle alcohol ban?  (Ed. note: despite my convoluted theory I still support the ban, for the record.)
