This walkway simply rocks. So let me ask, what types of houses work with walkways like this? I’m guessing my sweet vinyl siding may not work so well with a walkway like this, unfortunately…

I’m a huge fan of the cedar siding. That’s cedar right? Makes me feel like I’m in the Berkshires rather than the heart of Washington, DC.

You know, I’ve never really taken the time to admire this statue before. But if you walk up close to it you can really see how fresh it is. I normally just see the horse when I walk by but up close you can see there are interesting friezes all the way around on the base of the statue. But again, forgive my laziness, who the hell was Logan anyway?

but given the fact that there is no porch this seems like a pretty cool way to cover the doorway. It’s kind of got a modern flavor to it that I actually think works quite nicely in contrast to the old school row house. Do you like this touch?

It wasn’t really the sculpture itself that I was so taken with but I love the fact that it is based on an old tree stump. Now that I look at again, yeah, even the sculpture is pretty cool too.

I imagine the living rooms in these places are phenomenal.

“i was flipping through some photos i’ve taken around the city looking for a favorite spot; i was thinking maybe the black cat or polly’s, but those are just places where i have had a few killer parties. and the scenic shots of memorials just show places i take the folks when they’re in town. columbia heights is where i live. the first shot is my entry if i need to pick just one; it is at the corner of oak and ogden,”

So here’s one for the “if the music is too loud, you’re too old” category:
I went to see a show at Rock and Roll Hotel…braving the late start (didn’t get in line until after 10:30), late night…as sad as that is to admit…but it was a Friday and it seemed about time.

So, once inside it was time to grab a couple of beers and settle in for the show. Over the course of the evening a few things stick out as unnecessarily annoying. And so, as I sit here post-concert unwinding with a tall glass of scotch and replaying the evening in my head, I thought I’d seek some insight and understanding on a few things.

Most importantly, overall, the night worked out well for a last-minute, live music fix. Rock and Roll Hotel is an awesome small venue and the band was downright enjoyable with a good sound. However, there were a few annoying encounters with other concert-goers that were just downright rude, and pointlessly so. And as I ponder it, I have to wonder whether there’s been a loss common decency in our interactions with others, am I getting too old and thus too sensitive to this or was it just an anomaly, a couple of off-moments in an otherwise good show?
