The annual Hyattsville Mennonite Church Ten Thousand Villages Craft Market & Bake Sale is happening Saturday, Nov. 18, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM at the church at 4217 East-West Highway, Hyattsville, MD 20782 (near the Hyattsville Crossing metro station on the green line).

Shop Ten Thousand Villages (TTV) products along with those not available through TTV, including scarves, socks, chocolate, olive oil, and other fair trade items. There are only a limited number of birds available, so guests should put their orders in on our website – the ordering link is available on our website.

Bistro Cacao is also open on Christmas Eve serving a 3-course menu starting at $65 pp excluding service fees and tax between 4pm-8pm. The same 3-course menu will also be available for pick-up on Christmas Eve.


St. Mary Armenian Church will hold its 75th Annual Armenian Fall Food Festival October 6-7 from 11am – 8pm at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church (4135 Fessenden St. NW). Traditional Armenian Food will be available for both Carry-out and Dine-in including Lamb and Chicken Kabobs, Cheese Boreg, Baklava and a wide variety of other delicious dishes. Traditional Armenian music and dancing on Saturday night and unique artisan vendors throughout the festival. Outdoor dining space is available as well as free on street parking. At Generation Hope, we’re dedicated to supporting teen parents in college as they work toward earning their degrees. We are in need of caring child care volunteers for upcoming events on Saturday, October 21st (in Washington, DC), and Saturday, November 4th (in Arlington, VA). District Cutlery is celebrating their 10th and 11th anniversaries this week (we forgot last year) and offering customers 25% off all sharpening services. Walk-in service at Union Market is welcome or you can make arrangements for mail-in service on their website. Typical turn-around is less than an hour (but sometimes the queue gets long).

Girls in Gear is a Non-Profit that teaches girls age 5+ life skills through bike skills. We aim to get your girl to fall in love with herself, her friends, and her bike! Registration is open across the DMV for our eight-week program that starts the weekend of September 23rd. Programming runs for 90 minutes once a week on a weekend morning.

All abilities of riders – balance bikes, training wheels, two wheels, road-bike pros and everything in between – are welcome. We are non-competitive and focus on having fun no matter what your level of riding is. We pride ourselves in being a low-cost program and also have a no-questions-asked scholarship policy that includes bikes and helmets if needed.
