From a press release:
“MRP Realty, developers of commercial, residential and mixed-use real estate across the Washington Metropolitan Region, has been awarded the development rights to 965 Florida Avenue, NW by the District of Columbia Deputy Mayor’s office.
MRP Residential, along with its development partner, Ellis Development Group, were selected by the deputy mayor’s office to develop the property at 965 Florida Avenue, NW, into a mixed-use development consisting of approximately 370,000 square feet, including 40,000 square feet of ground floor retail, and residential units above. The development team also partnered with Fundrise, an online platform that uses crowdfunding technology as an alternative investment source.
“We believe our bid presented the best opportunity for the surrounding community and its residents and we are excited about today’s decision” said Matt Robinson, principal of MRP Residential. “Our unique package presented a mix of affordable housing, community input, and the ability of residents to invest directly in their neighborhood. This project provides a blend that we believe will benefit all community stakeholders. We are very appreciative of the opportunity Deputy Mayor Hoskins and his team have given MRP.”
Ground floor retail of the development will include Griffith Market, designed as an indoor farmers’ market that allows small and independent grocers, operators, and retail entrepreneurs to set up inside the building and serve the general public in a creative and affordable manner, creating an urban village that is authentic to the community.”
Ed. Note: Back in May we talked about Griffith Market in a Friday Question of the Day. You can see the full proposals including JBG’s with Harris Teeter here.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
