On Saturday, May 23, 2009, the Runway Youngins of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Sew ‘N Program will present the “Sew Young – Sew Fly – Sew Out of This World” Second Annual Fashion Show from 2 to 5 pm, at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC), 701 Mississippi Avenue, SE.

“This year’s fabulous fashion show will feature creations of students from the Sew ‘N Know programs at the SETLC and the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. Fashions being shown include black and white polka dot designs, students’ personal designs, Potomac High School Designs, Eleven Designs by Venus Williams, and all-male designs. The fashion show finale will include creations that incorporate unique materials that were provided to Sew ‘N Know students by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center during a field trip to the center this spring. The fashions will be introduced by students portraying historic figures and celebrities which were featured in this year’s “Blacks in Wax” event. For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.
