9:00am – 12:00pm | FREE!The Bruce Monroe Community Garden is growing and we need your help!
Join us this Saturday, July 14, from 9:00am Noon, and help build a new set of raised beds at the garden! Over 100+ community members already participate in the garden and we are looking to expand this great community resource! The community garden features composting facilities, a learning garden for kids, fruit and nut trees, as well as shared and reserved plots.
Once completed, these new plots will be immediately available, just in time for the late summer and fall harvest. Whether youve never gardened before or are looking to upgrade from your balcony container garden, wed love to have you as a part of our garden community!
No building/construction experience necessary and well provide gloves, tools, and guidance. Just come with some sunscreen and a bottle of water. A quick email to [email protected] to let us know you’re coming would be appreciated.
The Bruce Monroe Community Garden is located in Bruce Monroe Park (Georgia Ave between Columbia Rd and Irving St, NW), behind the tennis courts.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
