Listed District’s Phenomenal Finds Vol. 20 – More Good Stuff

Ellen Richardson, a graphic designer and Pleasant Plains resident, recently took her Craigslist hunting skills to the next level with the launch of her blog, Listed District. Listed District offers daily DC Craigslist findings of everything from Mid-Century and Industrial furniture, to bikes and the utterly strange.  Every week Ellen is going to share a roundup of some Phenomenal Finds with PoPville.

“I don’t care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.”
Groucho Marx

I hope everyone’s 4 of July was as eventful as mine – flammables, trajectory-enhanced sparklers, wine, terrible homemade ice cream, etc. Today’s Listed District finds rounds up some fabulous items for your hunting pleasure:
$100 – Industrial Vintage School Desk. This brings up several school-themed items: try a 1980s D.C. Pennant ($5), a set of Vintage Art Instruction Books, or this stellar set of Globe Wernicke industrial barristers ($250).

$250 – Chrome Faux Bamboo Side Tables. For the Regency fan – maybe you’d also want to own this fabulous Mirrored Buffet ($375) and this Neo-Classical Mirrored Vanity.

$200 – Pair Danish Caned Chairs. The seller admits that these chairs need a little love, but I can see them in the same space as this small MCM bookcase ($50), or perhaps a Crate & Barrel Oslo Dining Table ($750).

$400 – 7 Drawer Dresser by Drexel. This is a reasonable price – I’d put a fiddle leaf fig tree in this Sascha Brastoff Modernist Planter ($85) and recover this Vintage Rocker ($75) for an easy modern bedroom makeover.

$3200 – Fully Restored 1964 Vespa. I have no idea if this is a good deal, but I’d feel like a sassy 60s woman-on-the-go while driving it…
Happy Hunting!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
