The six newest members of the Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame will be honored prior to the Washington Nationals series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, May 6 at Nationals Park. This year, the legendary sports club will enshrine the following inductees:
o Glenn Brenner, Celebrated WUSA Sportscaster (inducted posthumously)
o Adrian Dantley, Former NBA All-Star and Basketball Hall of Famer
o Joe Gallagher, Former St. John’s College High School Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director
o Darrell Green, Former Washington Redskins Cornerback and Pro Football Hall of Famer
o Sam Lacy, Sports Journalism Pioneer (inducted posthumously)
o Bessie Stockard, Former University of the District of Columbia Head Coach, Women’s Basketball and VolleyballThese honorees were selected based on their outstanding contributions to the world of sports, thereby bringing honor and recognition to the Nation’s Capital while furthering the high standards of athletics in the Greater Washington community. They will join a select group of Washington-area standout athletes and sports personalities, including Sammy Baugh, James Brown, Dominique Dawes, Josh Gibson, Walter Johnson, Sonny Jurgensen, Morgan Wootten and many others, already in the DC Sports Hall of Fame.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
