Your Afternoon Animal Fix + Found Cat

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool with your pets name and neighborhood. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

“I wondered if you could post this picture of the adorable and super-friendly kitty who has been hanging around my house for the last couple of days. I live at 1st and U St NW in Bloomingdale and first saw this cat on Saturday night. She (?) is a small, maybe about 6 lbs, grey and white tabby with beautiful green eyes. She came right up to me for a belly rub and ear scratch, and she’s not super skinny (though she ate a ton when I gave her some food) so I think she might have recently been someone’s pet. I can’t keep her- 2 cats and a dog already, but I hope I can find her owner or find her a good home.

Please email PoP for my address if you have any information on her.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
